Social Media Today  People are quick to hop on social networking sites  Personal information can be put out on the web instantaneously  Employers show concern about what is posted on these sites in regards to their company and how these site impact the productivity of their employees

Reasons Employers Care loss or productivity at work while surfing the internet, chatting, tweeting and blogging loss of confidential information defamation or revealing of private facts to prevent harassment and discrimination to comply with document retention/destruction policy potential waiver of attorney-client policy to screen for potential FTC violations

Employee’s Concerns Crossing personal/professional boundaries Employers access to nonrelated information Judgment by employer Elimination of personal expression

Social Networking Sites & PR  These play a pivotal role in the public eye for a company  Companies have created accounts on these sites for their companies  To answer questions  Create a buzz  Promote their cause/ mission statement
