Distinguishing Factors of a Fundamental High School Voluntary enrollment School-wide discipline policy through rigorous adherence to card system High academic expectations High standards of student conduct and attendance to enhance quality instruction Insistence on strong study habits, self-discipline, and responsibility Reinforcement of the traditional values of patriotism, citizenship, respect, courtesy, and pride in accomplishment High standards of dress as expressed in the Jaguar Dress Code Option to transfer student to nearby District or neighborhood home school for repeated violations of rules and standards

Student Expectations All students must sign a contract agreeing to the following: Strive for excellence in citizenship and academics Comply with the Code of Student Conduct, including the fundamental card system Complete all requirements for graduation Dress according to the Jaguar Dress Code Be respectful of all students, teachers, staff, and guests at all times Attend and be punctual to all classes, detentions, Saturday School or Work Programs, and school functions unless ill or excused for school business

Parent Expectations Parents must sign a contract agreeing to the following: Support the goals, philosophy, and procedures of the fundamental school program Participate in conferences with school personnel when requested to do so Support decisions mutually agreed upon between parent and the school Read and sign the Code of Student Conduct with your student Know and support the Jaguar Dress Code Policy Be responsible for your student’s regular attendance and punctuality

Attendance Expectations Students will be in every class unless ill or excused for school business Permission will not be granted for extended absences. (Students will attend Saturday School for unexcused absences) Medical and dental appointments should be made outside the school day If appointments during the day are unavoidable, students will attend classes before and/or after the appointment EXCUSED ABSENCES: Medical Appointments Illness Bereavement

March 30th—District 8th Grade Orientation Day. Counselors will meet with students for selection of classes for the 2012-13 school year.

Question 1: I live in the neighborhood boundary. Does this mean my child is automatically admitted to Segerstrom? NO

Question 3: I want to make sure my child gets into Segerstrom by entering the priority enrollment period. Does anyone really check to see if my address is accurate? Yes!

Question 4: My daughter attends Segerstrom right now, and my nephew lives with us. May he enroll at Segerstrom during the priority period as a sibling? Sorry

Residency Declaration Letter Question 5: I live with another family in your neighborhood boundary area. The bills are not in my name. How do I enroll my student during the priority period? Residency Declaration Letter

Question 6: My grandmother is visiting the U.S. for the first time in October. I need to take my son out of school in order to be with us for a big family trip to Disneyland. Is his absence excused? No

Question 7: I’m worried about getting into Segerstrom since we don’t live in the neighborhood. Should I apply for the Godinez lottery, too? Yes!

Question 8: My daughter attends Segerstrom right now. I want my son to attend next year. He is currently a sophomore at Valley. May he enroll as a sibling? Sorry

Question 9: What are my chances of getting my child into Segerstrom through the lottery process? It depends: Last year, 740 students applied for enrollment through the lottery. Segerstrom accepted 100 of these students.

Question 10: The enrollment packets are due by 4PM on January 30th for priority and by February 24th for lottery. Is 4:05 PM okay? No
