Presentation transcript:

The Auditor Role The auditor has the same view of the course as the student does, but no marks are recorded for auditors.

The Instructor Role The instructor role is separated from the designer role in CE6. The Instructor: presents the course manages the course evaluates assignments & assessments changes assignment & assessment settings, and interacts with students in the course.

The Instructor Role The Instructor cannot: add content in the section create assignments create assessments add tools to the course, or use the File Manager.

Announcements Instructors can send a tailored announcement to all users with a particular role (e.g. all Students or all TA’s). Instructors have the flexibility of choosing where or how announcements will be delivered (e.g. automatic pop-up in the course). Announcements can be created in advance for delivery at a later time.

Who’s Online This feature allows course participants who are logged into their course environment to see who else is logged in at a given time and chat with them. Instructors and students have the option of masking their online status if they do not want to be seen.

Media Library Instructors can create a glossary of course terms or create multimedia collections of terms, definitions, or images related to specific course topics. These terms can be automatically hyperlinked to words throughout the course content. Whenever a student clicks on these terms, a window will pop up displaying the “definition” — which can include text, an image, and/or a media file.

Learning Module Specific activities — such as individual assignments or discussion topics — can be included in Learning Modules so that students navigate through them in a defined sequence. If instructors wish, they can personalise the path students take through these materials.

Web Links Whenever a Web Link is added to a course, it is automatically added to a comprehensive Web Links page This gives instructors and students a central place to easily access and review all Web Links used within a course.

SCORM Instructors can rapidly integrate SCORM content into their courses: This gives new options for incorporating rich content to create dynamic learning experiences for students. When students view SCORM objects in WebCT their activity is tracked.

SCORM Grades for any assessment or assignment included in the SCORM object are automatically recorded in the WebCT Grade Book.

Assessment New Question Types: combination multiple choice, true-false jumbled-sentence fill-in-the-blank

Assessment New Grading Options: Grade-by-Question- see every student response to a particular question, to evaluate specific responses in the context of those provided by other students. Anonymous Grading- to minimize the chance of bias.

Assessment New Assignment Options: individual assignments group assignments, and custom assignments, with different instructions for each individual or group receiving the assignment.

Assessment Different response options: responding only with text responding with an attachment, and responding with a Web Link.

Assignment The instructor has the option of returning an assignment to a student or group without a grade but with comments and additional attachments. Students can then resubmit the same assignment. This process can continue iteratively until the instructor determines that the assignment has been completed.

Assignment Ability to Publish Assignment Submissions Instructors, and optionally students, have the ability to publish completed assignment submissions so that the entire class can see them and learn from them.

Calendar The calendar integrates the global calendar into each course There is a larger scope of internal link options that you can link an entry to.

Discussion Gradable Discussion Topics There is a central grading area allowing instructors to efficiently evaluate and grade student participation in class discussions.

Discussion Instructors can easily: assemble and review a student’s posted messages, review a student’s total participation versus the class average assign a grade to each student that is automatically recorded in the Grade Book.

Chat & Whiteboard Combines Chat and Whiteboard into a single, integrated tool. Instructors have new options: The ability to mute or deny access or use the new “hand raise” mode to manage participation. The option to upload slides, save slides, and create slide shows using the Whiteboard.

Manage Course limited customisation options access to backup area settings for tools import content reset options view course preview page

Assessment Manager Organises assessment submissions so that instructors can easily see which submissions are complete, which need review or grading, and which have not yet been submitted.

Assignment Drop Box Assignment Submissions Manager The Assignment Manager organises assignments in one central place so that instructors can easily see which assignments have been submitted, which have not been submitted, which have been graded, and which have been published.

Grade Book The Grade Book provides spreadsheet-style ease for organizing and managing information. For example, students’ first and last names are frozen into place as an instructor scrolls through the Grade Book, making it easier to locate and view specific grades.

Grade Book Audit History Grade Change Tracking: When a grade is changed, it is automatically marked as such, creating an audit history of grade changes; instructors can also add notes or comments to explain grade changes as necessary.

Group Manager Instructors can create groups and set up private group discussion boards and chat rooms Sign up sheets, and Students can be given the option of joining their own class groups.

Tracking Student activity tracking has been expanded to include new information: Number of Mail messages read Calendar entries viewed

Tracking Media Library collections and entries viewed Content Files viewed, and pages viewed in Folders The number of assessments and assignments started, completed, and total time spent on assignments and assessments is also tracked.

Tracking Reports that contain summary information for a course section with: details on total sessions session length, and most active hours and days.

Selective Release The designer can selectively release each component of a learning module. This makes it possible to customise the learning experience for the student.

Selective Release The designer may view what is visible to each student using the member tab.
