Mark Twain Intermediate School for the Gifted & Talented Admissions

AGENDA Overview of the process Guided tours of school and specific programs Staff will be available to answer questions throughout the program Please be courteous while you are walking around our school. Please don’t crowd in the classrooms! Letters of attendance for work / school are available upon the end of the program.

The Process… Step 1 – Receive a Request for Testing (RFT) from either your current elementary school or local DOE enrollment center Step 2 – Complete the (RFT) and return to your current elementary school or local DOE enrollment center Step 3 – Complete the application that will be distributed in November Step 4 – Testing will occur in January and February

Completing the (RFT) In-District 21 Select two talent areas you wish to test / audition for MAKE SURE the talents are offered at the school that you want to apply to Indicate day that you CAN NOT test on due to religious observance You must provide a copy of 504 accommodation if applicable Out of District 21 (OD) can only apply to Mark Twain Select two talent areas that you want to test for Indicate day that you CAN NOT test on due to religious observance You must provide a copy of 504 accommodation if applicable

Completing the Application Personal applications will be generated by the DOE for all Middle Schools students based on their eligibility Applications will be distributed at your current elementary schools or mailed to private schools Make sure you apply to Mark Twain! Return your completed application to your current elementary school or local DOE borough enrollment center

Testing Testing will occur on the last two weekends in January and the first weekend in February You will receive a letter indicating your date and time for testing Review testing information document that you received today (also available on line) Come prepared and GOOD LUCK!

Frequently Asked Questions Will busing be available? – Busing is ONLY available to sixth grade students who are zoned for MS in D21 and meet the DOE distance requirement Which talent areas should I test for? – Test in the areas that you feel MOST confident in What’s on the test? – Review the documents distributed that have information about each talent area test
