IB Diploma Program Requirements  English HL  History HL  Mathematics HL or SL  Science HL or SL  Elective HL or SL  World Language HL or SL  ToK- second semester

 Must take 3 HL classes and 3 SL classes  Can take 4 HL and 2 SL if desired  Can only test in 2 subjects as a junior (anticipated student)  One test will be World Language  Must start extended essay-will receive more info from Mrs. Garner  Must be working on CAS hours- at least one activity must last for duration of IB program Diploma Program Requirements

 Students take 6 tests over 2 years (up to 2 junior year and 4 or 5 senior year)  Each test is scored on a scale of 1 to 7.  There are 6 tests, so the total possible score for the tests is 42.  The Internal Assessments (IAs) are averaged with the end-of-course tests to determine the student score.  The Extended Essay and ToK paper can add bonus points to the student’s overall score. Students can earn up to 3 bonus points. A failing grade on either paper results in not being awarded the diploma. The higher the score, the more bonus points.  Students need to earn 24 points out of a possible 45. A minimum of 12 points must be earned in the higher level classes, and a minimum of 9 points in the standard level classes. This means students should try to earn 4 points per test. Since they are averaged, a student can earn less than 4 points on one test if they earn more than 4 points on another.  Students cannot earn more than 2 grades of 2 on any test, and cannot earn any grades of 1.  Students must complete the CAS (Creativity-Action-Service) requirement. Earning the IB Diploma

 Don’t procrastinate!!!  Keep track of all assignments- use teacher webpages and some type of organizer (whatever works for you).  Turn assignments in on time. Late work will hurt your grades and won’t be accepted for IB.  Do your best on work this year. Next year will be much busier, so do IAs and EE this year if you can. Surviving Junior Year

 Select at least two dates throughout the year to register for the SAT and at least one date in the year to take the ACT.   Research colleges. Look at the freshman class profile to see where you fit in. Make sure when selecting colleges that you have at least one safety school (one you know you can get in and would want to attend). Junior Year

 Chose meaningful summer programs, internships and jobs that will help you get into college. These and all activities you will place on your resume.  Work hard. Your job is to be a great student so that your transcript really is a good indication of your intelligence and abilities!!!  Begin researching scholarship opportunities – most will have to wait for senior year but there are a few out there for juniors!
