Main topics of study in Honors Precalculus The nature of graphs transformations, symmetry, inverses Trigonometric functions circular functions inverse trig functions identities solving trigonometric equations properties of combined sinusoids Exponential and logarithmic functions common and natural logs Analytic Geometry of Conic Sections and Quadric Surfaces parabolas, circles, ellipses, hyperbolas nonlinear systems Discrete functions sequences/series binomial theorem mathematical induction combinations/probability statistics/data analysis

Polar coordinates and Complex Numbers polar equations of conic and other curves parametric equations for moving objects Three-Dimensional Vectors Scalar products Vector equations Introduction to calculus derivatives-estimating instantaneous rates of change determining and evaluating critical points discontinuities, limits, and partial fractions

Additional comments about Honors Precalculus: This course covers advanced algebraic topics, trigonometric, discrete mathematics, and Precalculus concepts. A weekly syllabus is provided with daily assignments, test and project announcements. The syllabus can also be located on my website. Homework is assigned almost every night, which generally can be completed in minutes or less. There is access to an on-line text.

There will be multiple assessments throughout the year including progress checks, quizzes, projects, tests, daily assignments and a cumulative exam at the end of each semester. I am available to my students during periods 2, 3, 4, and 8, before school and after school. Please encourage your child to see me if she/he needs any additional assistance.
