By anousheh Class 3 Want to learn about Alaska

1. A characteristic pattern of weather over a long period of time is called “climate”. 2. Every part of the world has it own climate. 3. A region ‘s climate affects the type of plants & animals found there & also how people live for example the types of houses they build &the clothes they wear. 4. An area's climate is affected by 3 main factors- its latitude (distance north or south of equator) its height above sea level & its distance from the sea. 5. Earth has 3 main climate zones: tropical, temperate and polar 6. These zones can be further divided into small zones each with is own typical climate into smaller zones

1.This climate is also known as the tundra type of climate & is experienced in polar regions. 2.The polar regions are the coldest on earth situated between the respective polar circles 3.This climate has long season of severe winter & even summer is cold. 4.These regions are also “cold desert” & they occupy areas of arctic margins of north America, Eurasia and Antarctica. 5.Countries that can claim to be in this region:. Russia.Finland.Sweden.Norway.Denmark.Greenland.Iceland.Canada. United states (Alaska). Antarctica ( continent )

1. Alaska is a U.S state. 2. It is surrounded by Canada, arctic ocean & pacific ocean with Russia not far off. 3. It used to be a part of Russian empire but was sold off to America in It is a sparsely populated state in USA. 5. Alaska’s economy is mainly based on “oil”, natural gas and fishing industry.

1. Alaska experiences polar climate. 2. Some parts of Alaska are colder than the rest and depending on their location & their climate varies. 3. Lowest official Alaska temperature recorded is -80F. 4. A map depicting climate zones of Alaska can be seen in the picture gallery.

4. The Alaskan summer is as divine as it looks in all the postcards. 5. Temperatures are high but the best part is the long day. 6. Days near late June sun is above horizon from 18 to 21 hours. So, midnight hikes and fishing at night is a popular activity. 7. Plenty of snow creates winter wonderland there. 8. Most important thing however is not the cold or snow but rather the darkness during official winter season.

 1. Life in Alaska combines the convenience of the modern age with the freedom and adventure of living close to nature.  2. People living here have a taste for adventure and good life.  3. They live in a close community.  4. Numerous indigenous people occupied Alaska for thousands of years before arrival of Europeans.  5. Many active volcanoes are found in the Aleutians and in coastal regions.
