2  Weather- the condition of the atmosphere at a particular time and place.  Climate- average weather condition over a period of time.  Latitude- the distance north or south from the equator.

3 Biome- large region that is characterized by a specific climate and the animals that live there.  Tropical Zone- warm zone located around the equator.  Temperate Zone- between the tropics and the Polar zone.

4  Deciduous- they lose their leaves when the weather gets cold.  Evergreens- keep their leaves year-round.  Polar Zone- includes the climate zones.

5  Microclimates- small regions with unique characteristics.  Ice age- when the oceans and bodies of water are iced over due to latitude.

6  Surface Currents- can be either warm or cold, stream like movements of water that occur at or near the surface of the ocean.  Prevailing Winds- winds that blow mainly from one direction.  Elevation- the height of surface landforms above sea level.

7  Global Warming- rise in average global temperatures.  Greenhouse Effect- Earth’s natural heating process..

9 Climate and Weather are two totally different things. Weather is like and in and out thing when climate stays for a period of time. Like when it’s cold in the winter, that’s the climate. Or when it rains one day out of the week that’s the weather for that day.
