NorTex- Background and Direction A long track record of Norway – US partnerships in research and Higher Education Role of NSF, NIH, NOAA, DOE, US State Department / Fulbright, other Federal Agencies, instruments. University collaboration – over 100 MoUs, cases including Harvard, MIT, U of Minnesota, Colorado, U of North Dakota, Stanford, Berkeley, etc NorTex builds upon the past, while taking a focused geographic, thematic and strategic focus

Why Texas and Norway? Both important players in global energy markets Strong presence of Norwegian industry in Texas 150 Norway related companies. Long history of university collaboration in the petroleum sector Norwegian expats in Houston region. 12 years of cooperation in the medical field: – MD Anderson Cancer Center, now also Memorial Hermann, Texas Heart Institute, Baylor College of Medicine Complementary expertise in such areas as energy, space and nanotechnology
