Kelly Edwards Elementary School Where Dreams Begin Proud to be a Title I School Learn more about the school, curriculum, special programs, Title I and your rights and responsibilities. Teach your child in ways that will add to what the teacher is doing. Know your rights because knowledge is power.

Kelly Edwards Elementary School Where Dreams Begin Proud to be a Title I School Participate and support your child academically at school and at home. Make decisions about your child’s education and academic program. Keep in contact with your child’s teacher through telephone, , or face-to-face conversations.

Kelly Edwards Elementary School Where Dreams Begin Proud to be a Title I School Parent involvement is an important part of the Title I program in Williston School District 29. Parents of Title I students are encouraged to become involved in their child’s educational program.

Kelly Edwards Elementary School Where Dreams Begin Proud to be a Title I School Title I is a federal program that provides opportunities for children served to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to meet challenging state content standards. Title I resources are distributed to schools where needs are the greatest, in amounts sufficient to make a difference in the improvement of instruction. Title I provides greater decision making authority and flexibility within the schools and for teachers.

Kelly Edwards Elementary School Where Dreams Begin Proud to be a Title I School The purpose of Title I is to provide extra help and instruction for students so that they can be successful. The goal is to enable Title I students to meet the state’s high content and performance standards that are set for all children.

Kelly Edwards Elementary School Where Dreams Begin Proud to be a Title I School Title I, Part A (Title I) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended (ESEA) provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.

Kelly Edwards Elementary School Where Dreams Begin Proud to be a Title I School  A needs assessment- School administrators, teachers and parents conduct a year-long study to see what is needed for all students to meet the state’s standards.  Planning- The schoolwide planning team decides which programs best meet the identified needs on the assessment.  Professional development- All school staff, teachers and administrators receive training in the programs used at their school.  As a parent, you have the right to request information about the qualifications of your child’s teacher.  Getting resources in place - These may include teachers, coordinators, materials, etc.  Yearly reviews- The schoolwide planning team meets to evaluate the plan. Changes may be made, based on the improvement in students’ skills.
