PRELIMINARY DESIGN REVIEW
Presentation transcript:

By: Wilking Interiano

History  Has been worked on since  Prototype was made in 2003  In 2007 it was finally revealed by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer  AT&T became the first retail location to have Microsoft Surface in stock in 2008

Specifications  Contains 5 separate cameras to record motion  Standard tables have a 30-inch reflective surface in a clear acrylic frame  Light produced by a 850- nanometer-wavelength LED light source aimed at the surface  4GB DDR RAM  1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive

What Microsoft Surface is  Microsoft Surface is a tabletop touch screen computer that allows users to interact with different information  Has all the same features of a pc  Provides better access to all types of media  In Use In Use

How it works  Cameras are used to sense objects, hand gestures and touch.  When figure tips begin to touch on the screen, tags are placed on what objects they are touching. Different objects have different tags.  The tags are then processed by the “image processing system” and then the applications program, in order to indentify what function is being done by what program

Features  Multiple people can touch the screen, up to 52 people.  Object Recognition Object Recognition  Direct Interaction

Examples

Developers  Software developers can be given Surface SDK  Developers encouraged to add new features  Program s written in “Avalon” SDK

Conclusion/Summary  Meant to revolutionize the tech industry  New wave of superior multi-touch technology  Currently limited to preferred customers: 12 k for commercial use 15k for developer use
