The mission of the CTSRC is to support the Connecticut Department of Transportation in developing and maintaining a state of the art crash data entry, collection, and safety analysis system

Agenda  Backlog Reduction Project Update  Introduction to CT’s New Crash Report (PR-1) and Data Elements  Crash Data Repository  T2 Center’s Safety Circuit Rider Program (Donna Shea)  Open Forum for Discussion  Adjourn

Backlog Reduction -Currently coding May 2013 (scanning July 2013) -UConn averages over 9,000 police reports a month (equal to almost 2 months of paper PR-1 data) -33 students on staff working on average 7 hours a week -UConn coders are adding location to the police reports -Local Road PDOs

CT’s New PR-1  Designed based on:  4 workshops with law enforcement  Feedback from DOT divisions that use crash data  Review of other state’s report forms  MMUCC V4 guidelines  Design elements:  No Overlays  Less frequently used fields on the back of each page  Supplemental forms  Ability to collect data for crashes that do not involve a motor vehicle

Crash Data Repository Web-Based Crash Data Query and Analysis Tools

Crash Data Repository  Reporting tools in development

E-crash Initiative Law Enforcement Liaison Crash Diagramming Tool Vendor Software Updates High Speed Connection Between UConn and ConnDOT

LTAP Opportunities Through TRCC Engagement  Membership on SHSP Steering Committee  Membership on CTSRC Advisory Committee  Membership on Crash Data Repository Technical Advisory Committee  Data Provided by CTSRC for LTAP Trainings  CTSRC Staff provided presentations during LTAP Trainings  Safety Circuit Rider need included in revised SHSP  Local agencies engaged in discussions about crash data  Safety Circuit funded for two years
