Giant Living Paintings Made of People... Adventures in Team-Building and Perception to Deepen Our Relationship to Sky, Earth & One Another

Art for the Sky is an exciting week-long residency for entire schools that combines art, music, math, history, psychology, and science in an unforgettable way. The adventure culminates in a gigantic living painting upon the school's athletic field. At DeSoto Trail we will create a giant living painting of a Florida endangered animal….possibly a loggerhead sea turtle.

February 2 nd – 6 th, 2009 February 2 nd – 4 th - Students work with artist to enlarge image from scale, plan t-shirt colors and gather recycled materials for image, learn the history of ancient geomorphs, learn about the plight of the loggerhead sea turtle, the importance to being good stewards of our environment and to practice the Wings to Fly song. February 5 th – Sky Day on soccer field February 6 th – Celebration assembly, view video and sing Wings to Fly song Astronaut, ancient Peru

Collaboration – a team building activity Interdisciplinary – art, music, math, history & science awakens our ability to see that elusive Big Picture whole-body way of stimulating our imagination helping us understand our interconnection with one another and all life Impermanence - Art that leaves no trace is a lesson in understanding that nothing lasts, everything is always changing and we must appreciate each moment as precious.
