6 Aligning with the redesigned curriculum
The core competencies invite us to interweave personal awareness and social responsibility across the curricular content and competencies.

7 February 2017 – Establishing our school values to support a safe, caring school culture: RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, KINDNESS Back-to-School Grade 7 Event to work with next year’s leaders on school-wide behaviour matrix. September 2017 – Finalizing with staff the school-wide matrix Fall – Student-made reference posters School assemblies to be initiated – teaching of behaviour standards, leadership, and values. How will we positively impact literacy achievement through the explicit teaching of personal and social awareness? Promote Social Responsibility strategically, both school-wide and in the classroom.

8 Spring 2017 – piloting of program Kelso’s choice by Administration and YCW
May 2017 – YCW working with two classrooms (Grade 3FI and Kindergarten) to pilot the program June 2017 – Staff sharing about the program Fall 2017 – anticipated teaching of the program through the primary classes Fall 2017 – Playground ambassadors to support kindergarten and grade 1 students to encourage positive play. Continued work with SD35 Restorative Action teachers around intermediate conflicts that are long-standing and intermediate peace circles. How will we positively impact literacy achievement through the explicit teaching of personal and social awareness? Develop student conflict resolution skills so as to solve problems peacefully.

Valuing Diversity and fostering Inclusion: Enlarge our print resources Respect and Diversity Week – February 2018 Cultural experiences: ArtStarts, French Immersion Funds Support Special Needs students in active whole school involvement.

Continue with the morning run Fall 2017 Improve class DPA kits body break station in the courtyard and by the Resource Room Playground Ambassadors for K-1 Students to promote positive play and support social interactions. How will we positively impact literacy achievement through the explicit teaching of personal awareness and social responsibility? Promote Well-Being through physical activity and body breaks.
