BLACK GOLD  Jewelry  Helps to produce gasoline  Most traded oil in the world MINERALS  Minerals are used in many things  Some are :  Gallium – Used in the electronics industry  Diamond (Industrial) – Machinery, mineral services, stone and ceramic products, abrasives, construction, drilling, transportation equipment

 Bismuth – Is a by-product of ore processing, used in chemicals, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics  Cement – Building materials, stucco and mortar

BLACK GOLD  Black gold is becoming more popular  The bad side is that you have to dig more and more into Earth to keep getting this.  If black gold is getting removed more and more from the Earth, the Earth will get weaker MINERALS  Digging and mining minerals causes ecological disturbance, destruction of natural flora and fauna, pollution of air, land and water, instability of soil and rock masses, landscape degradation and radiation hazards  It also damages vegetation

MINERALS  Minerals make richer soil for the organisms and don’t cause much harm BLACK GOLD  Black gold is oil and of course causes pollution which is harmful to everyone.

MINERALS  Minerals must go through a process that separates the actual mineral from everything else in the rock  They can be crushed down and turned into powder BLACK GOLD  Can be used to provide energy services for human activities, such as lighting, space heating, water heating, cooking, motive power, electronic activity.  Energy resources crude oil can be harvested to energy.

 There was a mining accident at the Fairmount Coal Company that killed 269 people in 1907.There were two mines that were electrically wired together and the men were using black powder for blasting and there were traces of gas also. One morning the men came in and a man blasted through and cause the whole thing to explode. All but 4 men were killed. There was a big mess of minerals every were and it took 2 years to clean up.
