MAJORITY RULE Democracy works on the principle of majority rule. This means that when 2 candidates from different political parties participate in a free and fair election, the candidate that receives more than half the votes wins the election. This being said, majority rule favors the most citizens and everyone keeps their basic rights as equal members of society.

Authoritarian Regime (Aw-thahr-uh-tehr-ee-uhn) Power held by a person or a group which is inherited and not accountable to the people. OR
