STATISTICS Statistics and Probability is an introductory project-and activity-based course where student critically analyze information about their world. Students will pursue questions based on their own experiences and gather data from the media, their own experiments and common objects. Students will collect data, estimate probabilities in experiments and compare experimental and theoretical probabilities. (semester) Are you looking for a math class that is a little different? Then this is for you! To be successful in this class, you need to have completed Geometry with C’s or better MENU

COLLEGE PREP This is a preparation course for college math. We will be covering the following topics: Functions and Their Graphs Polynomial, Power, and Rational Functions Exponential, Logistic, and Logarithmic Functions Systems and Matrices Discrete Mathematics (year) Are you planning on going to college? This class is a good option! To be successful in this class, you should have passed Algebra II with C’s or better. MENU

PRECALCULUS This course is a continuation and extension of intermediate algebra. The students will be exposed to algebraic functions of all kinds (polynomial, exponential, logarithmic,...,etc.), analytic trigonometry, matrices, probability, and a brief introduction to calculus. Emphasis will be on application and development of logical problem solving skills. This is a college level class and will be treated as such. You must be willing to work and study hard to be successful. (year) This course is designed to prepare you for the AP Calculus and AP Statistics courses – which can give you a large amount of college credit. You should have averaged at least B- grades in either Algebra II, College Prep., or Math 1050 before entering this course. MENU

AP STATISTICS The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Students are exposed to four broad conceptual themes: · Exploring Data: Describing patterns and departures from patterns. · Sampling and Experimentation: Planning and conducting a study. · Anticipating Patterns: Exploring random phenomena using probability and simulation · Statistical Inference: Estimating population parameters and testing hypotheses (year) MENU Students who successfully complete the course and examination may receive credit and/or advanced placement for a one-semester introductory college statistics course, or general math credit. In order to be successful in this class you should have averaged at least a B- in any of the following classes prior to taking the course: Math 1050, College Prep, Statistics, or Pre-Calculus.

AP CALCULUS (AB) Calculus is the culmination of high school mathematics courses. It is the study of limits, derivatives, integrals and various applications of these ideas. In this course you will learn the mathematics that Sir Isaac Newton invented to calculate a variety of mathematical and scientific concepts. Speeds of planets, gravitational forces, rates of change, cumulative and net change, velocities and accelerations are some of the ideas that require calculus if scientists are to make discoveries and theories involving such things. (year) In order to be successful in this class you should have averaged at least a B- in any of the following classes prior to taking the course: Math 1050, College Prep, or Pre-Calculus. MENU This course will cover the same material that a college “CALCULUS I” class would cover. If you pass the AP test you will get college general math credit and be able to start your college mathematics career at the CALC II level.

AP CALCULUS (BC) Calculus is the culmination of high school mathematics courses. (year, A & B day) In order to be successful in this class you should have averaged at least a B+ in any of the following classes prior to taking the course: Math 1050, College Prep, or Pre-Calculus. MENU This course will cover the same material that the college “CALCULUS I” and “CALCULUS II” classes would cover. If you sign up for this class it will be given to you for two periods – one period each day. If you pass the AP test you will get college general math credit and be able to start your college mathematics career at the CALC III level.

MATH 1050 (Concurrent Enrollment) This course is an intense study of functions, graphs, transformations, combinations, and inverses. Polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic functions, contextual applications, systems of equations, matrices, partial fractions are the emphasis of the curriculum. A comprehensive final is given at the conclusion of the semester course. Graphing calculator required. (semester) In order to be admitted into this class, you must score a 23 or above on the math portion of the ACT. This must be accomplished prior to enrollment.
