What is this class about?  The mission of this class is to learn about Entrepreneurship in a fun and interesting way.  You will receive many “perks” from this class including field trips, a backpack, supplies, shirts, gift certificates and MONEY.  You will also be eligible for scholarships all the way through college for being a graduate of YEK.

Classroom Rules  RESPECT yourself.  RESPECT each other.  Take RESPONSIBILITY for your actions.

Classroom Expectations  When you come into the room: Pick up your “bank” and take it to your assigned seat. Complete any “bellwork” that is listed on the whiteboard and/or screen.  Tardy Policy: You must be inside the classroom door when the bell rings. After three, you will receive a tardy referral for a detention with your division.  What to do if you are tardy: Cry, gripe, whine because: YOU WILL NOT GET “PAID”.

Classroom Expectations  Dress Code: This is a business class, therefore you will need to look decent when you are in this class.  Conduct: You will conduct yourselves as mature individuals at all times. When speakers are present you are to be on your best behavior. If you have a question, please let me finish and then ask it or write it down and ask later.

Classroom Expectations  MP3/CD Players: If you have your own device, it is allowed during Individual Work Time as long as one ear is left open so you can hear me. Not Allowed during Whole Class Instruction Time.  Food: Allowed during IWT as long as you clean up your trash and don’t mess up the keyboards and/or tables. Not Allowed during WCIT unless it is given to the entire class.  Drinks: Must be on the floor when at the computers. Tables: OK but don’t spill and don’t disrupt anyone else’s space.

Classroom Expectations  Bathroom/Hall Pass: NO I.D.=NO PASS ○ Do not come up to me putting on your I.D., if you don’t have it on when you walk in the room, don’t bother!!! You will not go anywhere during WCIT unless you are called out by the office. Don’t bother asking. (Obvious Emergencies may be excluded).

Classroom Expectations  Internet Usage: Homework= yes MP3 music/YouTube=no Just because = not unless I give you permission  NO- unless you are ing an assignment to me or speaking to a Business Plan Advisor. Consequence: One warning then automatic 30 minute detention with me after school.

Classroom Expectations  At the end of class: Log-off. DO NOT SHUTDOWN. Put things back the way you found them. Have a seat until the bell rings. When you leave, push your chair in.

Assignments  You will have some vocabulary assignments.  Most work will be done in class, but you WILL have HOMEWORK of some kind.  The primary assignment will be an in-depth business plan on a business of your choice. This assignment will be started during first semester and completed in second semester.  You will make presentations in this class.  You will compete in a business plan competition for scholarships toward the end of the year.

Grades  Grades will be determined through a percentage of a total point value.  Participation is a HUGE part of your grade so get into it!  Total point value is undetermined.  The grading scale is as follows: A=100-90% B=89-80% C=79-70% D=69-60% F=59% and below

Contract  You will be signing a contract stating that you understand that in order to be a member of the YEK class that you agree to be here ALL YEAR. YEK is NOT a semester class.  If you fail to enroll in second semester, you will be required to pay $100 for the costs of materials used in this class.  If you fail this class first semester you will be dismissed from the program and also required to pay the $100 fee.  I will be sending home a notice to your parents that they will need to sign and send back to me informing them of this policy as well.
