Pronunciation and Practice Pronounce the words above out loud to each other Focus on pronunciation while getting used to the definitions Make ten flash cards for each of the three vocabulary slides above.

Vocabulary in Conversation Take out all the vocabulary sheets that you have complete in this workshop Talk to each other and engage each other with any topic of your choice Write down ten sentences that you said

Paragraph Work On your own, write down five of your own paragraphs using all the vocabulary that you learned Then write down a one sentence summary for each paragraph Then find a partner and read your paragraphs out loud to each other

Example Paragraph Ben likes to build his own furniture. If his family needs a new cabinet, he just buys the wood and puts everything together using his hammer and nails. He makes all of his furniture really sturdy and always watches his furniture to understand when to replace them. When his furniture gets too old or he wants to add to his house, he just takes out his hammer and nails Ben likes to build furniture and is good at it.

Teaching Children Vocabulary Make vocabulary activities engaging for children by incorporating crafts and music Allow the children to see vocabulary as fun instead of boring and hard to learn Present the vocabulary in an easy to learn format by introducing a little of vocabulary spread out over and extended amount of time

Lessons Come up with three lessons for teaching vocabulary to children and encouraging children to learn those vocabulary

Example Lesson Give the children a list of verbs to look at Have each child come up with actions for all the verbs Have each child come up to the front to do one action and have the rest of the class guess what action it is Then have the children sing the verbs together as one whole class and have each child do his own action when a new word comes up, so the classroom will be filled with dancing children responding to verbs spoken by the teacher

Continuation of the Dictionary Activity Have the children expand their picture drawing activity by giving the children a major project Have the children draw a picture for each new word that you give them, and have the children put their new pictures into a booklet Every time you give the children new vocabulary, ask them to draw pictures, and have them add the new pictures to the booklets they are creating

Encouragement Encourage the children to use their new vocabulary in conversations with each other Conduct a classroom activity in which you hold up a picture and have the children yell out the vocabulary word that corresponds with the picture Read to the children and have the children read to each other

Lessons Come up with three plans for creating an immersive environment for the children to learn English

Example Plan Start off each day with song and write up the lyrics and have the children sing along Set up a break each day and play another song for the children to sing along with Play a game of charades at the end of the day by standing in front of the children and acting out a few vocabulary words for the children to identify

Lessons Come up with three lesson plans to help the children review the old vocabulary as well as learn new vocabulary.

Example Lesson Draw up a huge chart on the board with three columns In one column write a list of nouns that you have taught the children, in the second column write a list of verbs, and in the third write some adjectives Ask the children to come up with two sentences using the words that you provide them Have the children write down their two sentences on two pieces of paper and decorate their papers Hang up the pictures around the classroom for the children to look at

Lessons Come up with three lessons that encourage children to speak, read, and write English so that they become more comfortable with their second language.

Example Lesson Split the children up into groups of three In each group, have one child write down a sentence of his choosing The next child will read the sentence out loud to the group The third child will draw a picture that represents the meaning of the sentence Have the children in each group switch their roles and repeat the activity as many times as you would like
