To say and complete sentences with ‘this’ and ‘these’. To identify the singular and plural forms of nouns. To count the object up to 50. To identify the number names up to 50. Resources Websites Class book multirom, Audio CD English (track # 30, 31, 32); story poster # 3, My body flash cards # 38 – 42. Pebbles / counters, number name and number flashcards (21-50) picture cards of some animals (Picture card box) H.W Content Read the story described in Class book page # 20. Try to count different objects in your home. Make a project about the wild and domestic animals. Parts of the body (arms, nose, face, legs, ears); This is my arm. These are my arms. (Singular and plural nouns) Number and number names from 21 – 50. Domestic animals can be kept at homes. They are useful to humans. Wild animals live in jungle or are kept in zoos.

Date : ________________ Subject: English, Math, Science Grade: One Qatar Independent Primary Girls School Written Class Work L.S Teaching Strategies Time Pattern of Interaction ENGLISH: Page no 20, 21 (Work book) Auditory, Visual, Kinaesthetic Warm the students up with the songs ‘head, shoulders,… from you tube. Encourage them to point to different parts of their body as they sing. Then show different flash cards of body parts (Flashcard # 38 – 42). Play the audio and let the students practice the correct pronunciation. (Audio CD 1 track # 30, 31) Students participate in singing and pointing to their body parts. 5 minutes Tr << Ss << Ss Display the story poster and let the students listen to the story about the body parts (Audio CD 1 track # 32) Let the students point to their body parts as it is mentioned in the story. Encourage the students to come in front and act the story. Listen to story and point to body parts. Act out the story. Encourage the students to differentiate between one arm and two arms. Focus on the end sound of ‘s’. Elicit from the students plurals of different nouns. Then tell them that ‘this is’ is ‘friend’ of one object. And ‘these are’ is ‘friend’ of more than one object so they are always together. GROUP WORK: Each group pastes the correct beginning for each sentence. (Worksheet attached) Students try to differentiate between single nouns and plural nouns and use proper beginning for them. 10 minutes Let the students complete page 20, 21 of the workbook Ss << Tr MATH Page no 31, 32, 33 (Math booklet) Invite a students and let the class count her arms and say these are two arms. Then invite five and then ten girls and repeat the same. After 20 elicit from the students the next number and let them chant till 50. elicit from them how to write the numbers 21 – 50 randomly. Students count the arms and review English grammar. They also try to write numbers from 21 – 50. Kinaesthetic Let the students take a handful of pebbles/counters, count them and write the number on a paper. Count the pebbles and write number. Ss << Ss Visual Then show the number name flash cards and encourage them to match the names with numbers. (GROUP WORK) Match the number and number names. Let the students complete page 31, 32, 33 of the Math booklet.

Integrate with English. Reinforce the use of singular and plural nouns. Then show them the pictures including wild and domestic animals and ask them to classify the pictures into animals they can see in a farm or someone’s home and animals that can live ONLY in jungle or zoo. Students participate in singing the song and classify the animal pictures. 5 minutes Tr << Ss << Ss Introduce the vocab words and reinforce the difference between wild and domestic animals. Domestic animals can be used for various purposes. They are useful to us. Discuss different uses of domestic animals. Learn new vocabs and discuss uses of domestic animals. Auditory, Kinaesthetic GROUP WORK: Let the students draw some domestic/wild animals in groups. Students point to their body parts. 10 minutes Tr << Ss << Ss Play the phonic songs from: Elicit the sounds and let the students give more words starting from these sounds. Students sing and say words starting from the sounds i, j, k and l. Let the students complete page 23 of the workbook Ss << Tr MATH Page no 34 (Math booklet) Give the number flash cards to students and call out some of them and let them stand in a number line in correct order. Then choose four to five girls and let them order themselves. Repeat the process three four times until all students had taken part. Students order themselves according to the numbers given. Sing the song ‘ten fingers on my hand’ Students point to their body parts and sing. 5 minutes Ss << Ss Auditory, Visual, Kinaesthetic Let the students listen and read page no 24 of the class book. Play the audio two to three times. Pause after each line and let the students repeat. Encourage students to come in front and read. Students listen and read along the text. 10 minutes Tr << Ss << Ss Visual, Let the students number the pictures in their groups. Pass around the class and listen to them reading. Students read individually. Let the students complete page 24 of the workbook Ss << Tr MATH Page no 35, 36 (Math booklet) Give the number flash cards to students and call out some of them and let them stand in a number line in correct order. Then choose four to five girls and let them order themselves. Repeat the process three four times until all students had taken part. Students order themselves according to the numbers given. Then let one student pick a picture card and imitate the animal on it. The other guess and classify the animal as wild or domestic.
