2010 ACEP NATIONAL FACULTY TEACHING AWARD RECIPIENTS

Brian Clyne, MD, FACEP Dr. Clyne revitalized the residency in a very short period of time, and within a year of taking over, was being praised by residents and faculty for his leadership, dedication, and innovative spirit.

Christopher Doty, MD, FACEP Chris has been a tireless educator, a proliferative academic writer, and a compassionate mentor. He is a valuable mentor to the students, residents and faculty, as well as a cherished friend to the department.

Jonathan Edlow, MD, FACEP Dr. Jonathan Edlow is clearly one of the top leaders (not just in emergency medicine but in the overall house of medicine) on the subject of neurological emergencies.

David Howes, MD, FACEP He is a gifted teacher who serves as the consummate role model for our residents and our medical students in the clinical and didactic educational settings. It is our privilege to have him as a faculty member and especially as the Residency Program Director.

Kenneth Jackimczyk Jr., MD, FACEP He is an exceptional emergency physician by any measure and strives daily to improve himself as he encourages the residents he trains to develop themselves. This is a man who is soft-spoken, wise, and humble and he uses these tools to motivate others into achieving a level of personal excellence they would otherwise not know.

Maureen McCollough, MD, FACEP I feel that Dr. McCollough is fully deserving of this award because of the contributions she has made in our department over the past seven years. Her passion for educating our residents and junior faculty is inspiring, and it is a pleasure to have someone like Dr. McCollough be such an active part of our department.

Thomas Morrissey, MD, PhD, FACEP One of Tom's many gifts is that he excels at making complex concepts easily digestible by those with whom he interacts. His teaching analogies, similar to his analogies for real-life scenarios, immediately make obvious the concepts he teaches.

Rahul Sharma, MD, MBA, FACEP Rahul stands out as one who lives to teach and who takes immense pleasure from watching our students and residents grow. He is a true academic faculty member and a teaching role model for our residents and faculty.

Michael Smith, MD, FACEP Dr. Smith is widely reviewed as perhaps the finest of our didactic lecturers. He routinely attains the highest marks for his didactic lectures and for his clinical teaching while on shifts. He is enthusiastic, committed and has a unique talent for teaching Emergency Medicine residents and medical students, that art of Emergency Medicine.

Anthony Tomassoni, MD, MS, FACEP He is a caring physician who has been recognized both locally and regionally for his teaching excellence. He shows tireless dedication to the Yale emergency medicine residents both at the bedside, in the classroom and in the office.
