2 Outstanding Dietitian of the Year Caroline Keegan, MBA, RDN, LD
Each year the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recognizes those who individuals who receive the affiliate’s top member award. The criteria for this award includes leadership, support of affiliate strategic plan, advocacy, and mentoring of members. Caroline has been vital to the successes of the Idaho Academy including: Chairman of 2015 Annual Meeting Caroline’s Favorite Books Legislative presentation – February 8, 2016 Encouraging RDNs to think strategically Idaho Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics

3 Emerging Dietetic Leader Deena LaJoie, MS, RDN, LD
The Emerging Dietetics Leader Award recognizes the competence and activities of members, regardless of their age, who are at the beginning of their dietetics careers. Members who receive this honor support the promotion of optimal health and nutritional status of the public through demonstrating leadership in legislation, research, education, management and other areas related to the profession. Deena serves as the Idaho Academy’s representative to the Idaho Healthcare Coalition. Deena is providing leadership during the healthcare transformation of Idaho’s State Healthcare Innovation Plan (SHIP). Idaho Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics

4 Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Molly Tevis, RDN, LD
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recognizes the professional contributions of dietetic technicians and encourages their continued participation in the community and Academy activities. Award recipients are selected by their affiliated dietetic organization. They demonstrate leadership qualities and performance in the Academy or their employment through education, clinical nutrition, foodservice management, public relations, career guidance and legislation. Molly is completing her term as Treasurer of the Idaho Academy. She is very active in Treasure Valley Dietitians and regularly shares her expertise on nutrition with members of the Treasure Valley (on KTVB). Idaho Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics

5 Leadership and Advocacy Award S&S Nutrition Network, Inc.
This award is presented to S&S Nutrition Network, Inc. In recognition of the many ways this organization supports RDNs. Leadership on Idaho Academy Board Leading the way for the Legislative activities Mentoring of members Support of local groups (Treasure Valley Dietitians and Magic Valley 10th and 11th editions of the Idaho Diet Manual Diabetes Workshop for Long-term Care (Sept 2015) Providing opportunities for students to shadow RDNs Providing jobs for RDNs in Idaho Idaho Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics

Outstanding Dietetic Educator Award Samantha Anne Ramsay, PhD, RDN, LD FAND The Outstanding Dietetics Educator Award recognizes the teaching, mentoring, and leadership activities of faculty and preceptors in dietetics education programs that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. The selection of awardees is determined by the Nutrition and Dietetic Educators and Preceptors Group. Dr. Ramsay was nominated for this award by colleagues at the University of Idaho. 7 June Yerrington Award Laura McKnight, MPH, RD, LD
The June Yerrington Award is unique to the Idaho Academy. The award recognizes the characteristics of June Yerrington who served as President of the Idaho Dietetic Association in and mentored many RDs during her career at the VA Hospital in Boise : This award honors the respect the recipient has earned from his or her colleagues. The individual who receives this award has contributed to the Idaho Academy in a significant way during his or her professional career. The member must have made a significant impact in his or her community. The member must have been an Idaho Academy member for at least 10 years. Idaho Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics

8 Gem Award Dr. John J. Eck, MD Center for Lifetime Health Boise
The Gem award recognizes an organization or nonmember of the Idaho Academy. The award recognizes promotion of good health with an emphasis on sound nutrition habits and efforts that support the roles of RDNs in Idaho. Dr. Eck employs two RDNs in his practice.
