Biology: the study of Life

Things to know going into AP Biology Organisms continuously interact with their environment. Cells are an organism’s basic unit of structure and function Biological systems are much more than the sum of their parts

4- Living things show diversity and unity 1.8 million known species. Est. 10 to 100 million unknown species

5-The theory of evolution accounts for life’s unity and diversity.

6-Biologist use various forms of inquiry to explore life Experiment (scientific method) Observe (discovery based)

What Science Cannot Do: Science cannot support or falsify supernatural explanations which are outside the bounds of science.

Science and Technology Technology applies scientific knowledge for some specific purpose.
