The project will be helped by Leisure Working Group of the Healthy Lives Advisory Group (Learning Disability Partnership Board) And managed by Kim Fuller – Creative Development Team

We want to help people with learning disability to be regular users of leisure services in Walsall.

We found out that a lot of young people stop going to leisure services when they have left school This can sometimes be because they don’t know about them or they feel that the don’t fit in.

From October to December 2009 we will get someone to look at what there is to do In Walsall This person will then let Sam know what they have found. Sam will then make a web-site. The website can be found by going to the web-site and we would like people to use this site and let us about the places they have been towww.walsalltogether.net

We will invited four volunteers to help us with the project. From October to December an artist will work with our project group to find out about them and what they like. The artist will also help them make a new sign which means ‘friendly’. In November and December our video man will make a film of some of the places some of our group have been to see what happens.

In January our group will do some drama so that that can show an audience what it is like to have a learning disability and go to places that are not ‘friendly’. In February we will have four events where we will show the people that deliver the services our film and drama and they will tell us what they do to.

In February to September our group will try new activities and find things that they like to do. They will fill in a diary to tell us what they have or haven’t liked. In September we will all meet up to see how they have got on and what they have tried.

We will be asking someone to write down and take pictures of what we will be doing throughout our project. They will then write a report at the end to see how we have spent our money and if the project has helped people with learning disabilities in Walsall go out and take part in more things.
