 Monomials & Polynomials  Linear Equations & Inequalities  Functions & Graphing  Systems of Equations  Radical Expressions  Factoring  Exponential Functions  Quadratic Functions/Equations  Data Analysis  **Emphasis on Word Problems & Geometry Application Questions

 Algebra I students will take the 8 th grade EOG test in Math as well as the End of Course (EOC) test for Algebra I  Students must have a passing year-end average for the class in order to gain 1 high school credit  The grade for this year’s course will show up on the students’ high school transcript but doesn’t not count toward the high school GPA

A 92 – 85 B 84 – 77 C 76 – 70 D 69 – 0 F

 55% Formal = Tests/Quizzes/Projects  35% Informal = Warm-ups, Classwork (some graded for accuracy, some for completion)  10% Homework  Classwork turned in late receives no higher than a 50%  All grades are weighted based on total points (Tests = 100 pts, Quizzes = 40/50, Classwork = 15-30)

 Homework:  Each homework assignment will count as 10 pts toward 100  10 homework assignments will be entered in NCWISE as 1 grade  Late or partially completed homework will earn 5 pts instead of 10 ◦ Ex: 90% = 9 out of 10 completed on time, OR 8 completed on time & 2 turned in late

 Enter class with all materials (binder, workbook, calculator, pencil)  Copy assignment from board into agenda  Place homework & agenda out on corner of desk to be checked  Begin warm-up (in Composition Notebook)  Grade warm-up & homework  Take all notes  Participate productively in individual & cooperative work  Show all steps to problems in neat & organized manner on classwork, homework, & assessments  Keep Math Binder up to date & organized – notes section, classwork, homework, returned tests/quizzes

 CMS & CHMS policy states that students who score below a 70% on a test are eligible to take a re-test and earn up to a 77%  Date & time will be set by the math department  Students must do the following before being allowed to re-test: ◦ Get test signed by parent ◦ Make test corrections ◦ Attend one tutoring session

 In the case of an expected absence, please have student see me before they will be out  In the case of an unexpected absence, students should: ◦ copy notes from a classmate or myself upon return ◦ see website for homework assignments missed ◦ see me for worksheets given out *Students have 5 days to make up work from the absence
