WELCOME BACK! ALGEBRA 1A MS. AGNEW ROOM 182

ABOUT ME  Queensbury, New York  Elizabethtown College  Twin Sister  Volleyball  Australia  Sebastian

COURSE DESCRIPTION  Real numbers and Variables  Solving Linear Equations  Solving Linear Inequalities  Absolute Value Equations & Inequalities  Functions  Graphing Linear Equations  Graphing Linear Inequalities  Ratio and Proportion  Similar Figures  Systems of Equations/Inequalities  Probability (Dependent and  Independent Events)  Data Analysis (Measures of Central  Tendency, Box & Whisker Plots, Stem- and-Leaf Plots)

GRADES  Grades are not given but earned. Your grade will be an evaluation of homework, classwork, quizzes and tests, and class participation. Grades will be computed strictly by points.  Sapphire Grading

HOMEWORK  Students will be responsible for turning in their homework when collected. Random assignments will be collected and graded. If the homework is incomplete, the student will earn zero points. This collected assignment will be graded for effort, completion, and accuracy. More importantly, ALL WORK MUST BE SHOWN!

MATERIALS  Organization is the key to success. You must have a folder or binder to keep notes, homework, quizzes, and tests as well as a pencil. It is highly recommended that you have your own graphing calculator for assignments. I recommend the TI- 84PLUS or the TI-83PLUS calculator if you are going to purchase one.

MAKE-UP WORK  Every student is responsible for making up his or her homework from absence(s). Each student has the same number of days to make up their work as the number of days they were absent. Chapter tests and quizzes must be made up before the next chapter test. Students who fail to make up his or her work in the time allotted will obtain a zero in the grade book for that assignment.  MISSING ASSIGNMENTS  ONLINE BOOK  http://phschool.com/ http://phschool.com/  Course content  click here  math  textbook companion site  find textbook  homwork video tutors  pick chapter and section

HELP!  If, at any time, you are struggling with the material and would like some extra help please do not hesitate to ask. I am in my room most mornings before school (7-7:35) and can also make advanced arrangements for after school help. Tutoring is also made available at the drop-in center. Outside tutoring by a qualified tutor (if they are available) is also an option. Mr. Sahd (Math Dept. Supervisor) has a list of qualified tutors and their phone numbers.  REVIEW SESSIONS
