NCCPE’s Assessment 1.Vulnerability of the population to infection with wild virus infection  Polio related immunity gap and routine immunization 2.Whether system is sensitive enough to identify any WPV circulation? 3.Whether system is capable of identifying any importation of WVP in to the country? 4.Ability of the system for rapid and effective response to detection of any WPV identified?

Laboratory Containment Activities National Task Force – Constituted by MOHFW, GOI on 11 September, 2003 – Director General, ICMR as Chairperson – Secretariat: Indian Council of Medical Research – Report to be prepared by Secretariat & submitted to NCCPE Activities – To avoid chances of re-introduction of WPV when indigenous circulation of virus interrupted – Document location and type of WPV infectious material retained: preparation of nation wide inventory of laboratories storing infectious /potentially infectious materially

Timeline for preparing and submitting 1 st draft national document to WHO-SEAR & RCCPE 01/05/12 NCCPE Secretariat prepares and circulates draft document to NCCPE members. Time preiod-2008, 2009, 2010 and /05/12 NCCPE meets to review the document 15/05/12 NCCPE Secretariat finalizes the document 31/05/12 Draft India Report submitted to SEARO
