SET YOUR GPS TO OHIO STREET – GREAT LAKES PIR GRADUATION ENTRY AND TAXI PICK-UP/DROP OFF IS AT GATE # 8

NOTE – THIS IS UNOFFICIAL It is important that you know these groups. There are three types of graduates. GROUP I. Departing “A” School Graduates to another base OUTSIDE OF Great Lakes. GROUP II. Temporary Holdovers staying at RTC REGARDLESS OF WHERE their “A” school is scheduled GROUP III. Great Lakes Naval Station “A”School sailor. NOTE – THIS IS UNOFFICIAL

GROUP I Departing A-School Students Departing Sailors to A-Schools outside Great Lakes normally leave on Saturday Morning. In extreme cases some leave on Sunday Morning. They will be available immediately after the Graduation Ceremony and NORMALLY must be back at RTC (GATE 8 OHIO ST) ON THE TOE LINE N.L.T. 19:30 hrs (7:30 PM). CHECK WITH YOUR SAILOR TIMES VARY Buses depart Great Lakes around 12:30 AM and 3:30 AM heading to O’Hare (TERMINAL 2 - DOOR 2A) and Midway (DOOR #1). Check your sailors schedule. TIMES VARY You can meet your sailor at the Airport. Bring their cell phones and laptops. Your sailor can get you a security pass from the Airline Counter. DO NOT CALL THE AIRLINES OR THE USO. Only your sailor can get you a pass at the airport from the airline that he is traveling on. Park in the Short term garage or remote garage. Check with other families and try to share cost. We can provide late night taxi service to O’Hare and Midway at a reasonable cost. Cab sharing is encouraged. Remember if you get a security pass you will be treated like a flying passenger and you will have to meet all FAA and TSA guidelines.

GROUP II RTC TEMPORARY HOLDOVERS This group of sailors have graduated and must have additional processing or waivers prior to departure from RTC to their new assignment. Additional processing can include but is not limited to. Reclassification Medical Waivers Security Clearances Additional Medical Treatment Administrative Waivers/Review Awaiting A-School date at a location other than Great Lakes These sailors will have only a short time with you after graduation (about 30 minutes). They will return to their boot camp ships and will be out-processed and then moved to another ship on RTC for holdover in-processing. They will remain at RTC until matters are resolved or school dates assigned. They will have Liberty Friday (after in-processing) and on Saturday and Sunday. Check with them for their return times. They must return to RTC on Friday night GATE 8 – OHIO STREET - Normally N.L.T. 21:00 hrs (9:00 PM). CHECK WITH YOUR SAILOR!!!

SET YOUR GPS TO OHIO STREET – GREAT LAKES EVENING DROP OFF IS AT RTC GATE 8 OHIO STREET DEPARTING “A” -SCHOOL STUDENTS AND HOLDOVERS MUST BE RETURNED TO THIS GATE ONLY GROUPS 1 & 2 SET YOUR GPS TO OHIO STREET – GREAT LAKES GATE 6 CLOSED EVENING RETURN GATE 8 CHAPEL DO NOT GO BEYOND THIS POINT

GROUP III. Great Lakes Naval Station A-School sailors and 800 division sailors. This group of sailors have graduated and ARE NOT HOLD OVERS and will be transferred across the street to the NAVAL STATION GREAT LAKES TRAINING COMMAND (NSTC). In-processing takes about 3 To 4 hours and they normally won’t be available for pick up until 2:30PM TO 4:30PM. These sailors will have only a short time with you after graduation (about 30 minutes). They will return to their boot camp ships and will be out-processed and then bused to NSTC FOR THEIR “A”SCHOOL. They will remain at NSTC until graduation from A-School. They will have Liberty Friday (after in-processing) and on Saturday at 6:00AM and Sunday at 6:00 AM. Check with them for their return times. They must return to NSTC EVERY NIGHT TO GATE 4 OR GATE 1 NLT 21:30hrs (9pm)TIMES VARY! YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN YOUR SAILOR OUT/IN ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. No need to sign your sailor in or out on Friday UNLESS their ship requires it.

To return your sailor on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night back to TSC/NSTC use gate number 4 which is located at the intersection of MLK (22nd street) and Sheridan Road. See map NEXT PAGE They will remain at NSTC until graduation from A-School. They will have Liberty Friday (after in-processing) and on Saturday at 6:00 AM and Sunday at 6:00 AM. Check with them for their return times. They must return to NSTC EVERY NIGHT TO GATE 4 NLT 21:30 hrs (9:30 PM). TIMES VARY! YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN YOUR SAILOR OUT/IN ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. No need to sign your sailor in or out on Friday UNLESS their ship requires it. To pick up your sailor and sign him/her out on Saturday and Sunday, you must meet them at the Gate 1 Parking lot. See first photo. Once you have them in your car or taxi, you must drive to Gate 4 and then to their ships for sign out. For security reasons a map to their ships will not be shown however – here are the street directions to get to their ships on TSC/NSTC. Enter Gate

FRIDAY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY DROP OFF GREAT LAKES “A” SCHOOL ONLY

Enter Gate 4 Cluverius Ave. For the USS Halsey turn left on LUCE Blvd and it is on your left Bldg 439. For the USS Cole continue on Cluverius until LUCE Blvd and turn left on to LUCE and go to the stop sign at Evans Avenue. Turn right and go 30 yards and turn left on Moffett Drive. Go to the next stop sign and you will see the USS Cole in front of you. For the USS Franklin, follow Cluverius until John Paul Jones Street. Turn Left on John Paul Jones and go past Nimitz Ave and turn left into the parking lot. For all other ships, such as the New Jersey, North Carolina, Essex, BonHomme Richard, & Mustin, follow Cluverius Ave to the McDonald’s Restaurant. Turn right into McDonald’s and drop your sailor off at the McDonalds lot and it is a short walk to their ships. Your sailor will be given a map when he in-docks and they will know where their ships are located in reference to the McDonalds.
