About IB The International Baccalaureate® (IB) was founded in Geneva, Switzerland in 1968 as a non-profit educational foundation. The Diploma Programme sought to provide students with a truly international education—an education that encouraged an understanding and appreciation of other cultures, languages and points of view. Warwick High applied to be an IB World School in 1993 and was affiliated with IB in 1996.

Goals of the Diploma Program Prepare students for effective participation in a rapidly evolving and increasingly global society as they: develop physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically acquire breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding, studying courses from 6 subject groups develop the skills and a positive attitude toward learning that will prepare them for higher education study at least two languages and increase understanding of cultures, including their own make connections across traditional academic disciplines and explore the nature of knowledge undertake in-depth research into an area of interest in the extended essay enhance their personal and interpersonal development through creativity, action and service

Theory of Knowledge Required for all IB students Offers students and their teachers the opportunity to: Reflect critically on diverse ways of knowing and on areas of knowledge Consider the role and nature of knowledge in their own culture, in the cultures of others and in the wider world. Be aware of themselves as thinkers, encouraging them to become more acquainted with the complexity of knowledge Recognize the need to act responsibly in an increasingly interconnected but uncertain world.
