BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting Considerations on data formats to be used for capturing and submission of the requirements of Administrations for RRC04-05 RRC04-05 Data Formats

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting Different Formats for storage, exchange and calculations RRC04-05 Data Formats õh¦Bÿÿ=&°˜1"H…}§s[k º'>½#4àC˜}§a][k º'ô=½# &¨¢ >&À1¢ º'Ì=½#8 ´¦ º'°=½# ž'¨° Þ&¨Ö¢0ÀB¸SæB¬ ç(§WüB ÷¢ýB ÷k4àC ~$hc àô(¦ ¦ÿÿ=&ð˜1"HPÞ F¢ f¢ ¢ ¦¢H…}§Ór[k º'ì # 9¢ Y¢ y¢ º' º'Ð;½# ž'¸°8 ¦HP> !¢ A¢ a¢ ¢ ¦ÿÿ=& ~1"H…}§sr[k º'l;½#BàÃ4àC ž'h|°¦ º'D;½# ž$h Þ$hÆ ž'h±¶ Aîÿßöÿÿ'~£ In the past data records were often Very long and difficult to decipher!

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting Different Formats for storage, exchange and calculations RRC04-05 Data Formats Now we can have: A hierarchical database system like INGRES or MS ACCESS for Storage A (standard generalized mark-up language) sgml-like language for exchange of small to medium amounts of data A preformatted file format (MS Excel, MS Access) for exchange of large amounts of data Binary format for optimized data calculations as required.

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting Current ITU situation server storage:INGRES database Publication on CD: MS ACCESS RRC04-05 Data Formats Data Exchange: sgml-like format described in CR/120

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting sgml-like format t_d_sent = t_adm = MRC comment = This is a BR generated file t_notice_type=T02 t_fragment=ST61 t_action=MODIFY t_trg_freq_assgn=474 t_trg_long = t_trg_lat = t_freq_assgn= 474 t_site_name=ARBAOUA t_pwr_ratio=7 t_num_notices = 1

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting Advantages of the SGML-like exchange format RRC04-05 Data Formats Only recognized keys are processed Administrations can add their own data Notifications can be tracked without affecting processing Format is easily modifiable to add new sections/fields As it is in use, its possible adoption would save time and money

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting RRC04-05 Data Formats Advantages of other predefined formats MS Excel and MS Access are popular formats Easier to process than sgml for large amounts of data Administrations may wish to consider the use of a SGML-like exchange format or another predefined format (MS Excel, MS Access) depending on the amounts of data being transferred, for RRC04-05 notification of requirements

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting Re-Use of TerRaBase data tables RRC04-05 Data Formats Chapter 9 of the TG6-8 report lists the data elements needed to describe the different assignments, allotments and requirements. Most of the data elements needed already exist in the current database. Current data dictionary available here: R/terrestrial/seminars/ge02/miscellaneous/

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting RRC04-05 Data Formats The following tables could be used straightforwardly for data storage: fmtv_terra fmtv_ant_diag fmtv_ant_hgt Additional tables may be needed to cover other RRC04-05 data like: bcbt_terra2Additional data not included in existing table bcbt_allotAdditional allotment data fields bcbt_allot_boundDescription of allotment boundary

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting Data validation : Essential in data capture and database update Current TerRaSys FMTV validation rules are here: R/terrestrial/seminars/ge02/miscellaneous/ Several reference tables ( ref_tv_band, ref_tv_chan, ref_tv_tran_sys) used in validating input data. RRC04-05 Data Formats It may be possible to use existing validation rules and reference tables as the basis for validation in the RRC04-05 system.

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting Data capture screens Analogue television broadcasting assignment-T02 (GE89, ST61) Analogue television broadcasting assignment-TP2 (outside GE89&ST61) Digital television broadcasting assignment requirement Digital television broadcasting allotment Digital television broadcasting allotment requirement Digital sound broadcasting assignment requirement Digital sound broadcasting allotment Digital sound broadcasting allotment requirement Other service requirements-T11 (FXM, etc.)

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting Example of TV data capture screens – T02

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting Example of TV data capture screens – T02

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting The T11 data capture program is available at the following ITU address: R/software/terrestrial/fxmdcap/index.html Other Services – T11 capture program

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting Remaining work Complete the validation rules for all screens described above. Create additional database tables to store new data (ex: allotment areas). Complete data capture screens 6.2 to 6.9 Integrate all screens into a single user interface. Documentation of the above, completion of a beta version of the software and submission of this information as a contribution document to the first session of the RRC-04/05

BR/TSD Geneva 2003 RRC-04/05 Information meeting Other tables may be required: To store service areas and possibly the associated field strengths (wanted and unwanted). To indicate the impact of modifications and additions to the plan on existing services As a result of the decisions at the Conference. RRC04-05 Data Formats
