LANGUAGE RESEARCH IN SERVICE TO THE NATION Language, Regional Expertise, and Culture (LREC) Overarching goal To depict the current landscape of LREC research DoD Question: Does DoD-supported LREC research reflect a shared vision and priorities with significant impact throughout the DoD? –CASL will present findings on DoD-supported LREC research. –Sustainable Solution: Proof-of-concept online collaboration tool for research, knowledge sharing, and management of DoD-supported LREC research. 2

LANGUAGE RESEARCH IN SERVICE TO THE NATION Language, Regional Expertise, and Culture (LREC) Objective To identify state-of-the-art and collaborative research efforts throughout the DoD Culture & Regional Expertise research community Why? –To aid DoD managers to better align research with DoD strategic goals and to reduce redundancy. 4
