1 BioMedBridges – Work Packages 2 & 12
A Summary of Deliverables and Plans for Delivery

2 Work Package 2 – Outreach and Inreach

3 WP2 - Objectives Promotion and dissemination of BMB deliverables to stakeholders Specification of expectations, motivations and requirements of stakeholders in the implementation of common solutions Involvement of stakeholders, including end users, patient organisations and industrial stakeholders in informing the outcome of BMB deliverables Provision of strategic outreach to other projects and relevant initiatives to support the implementation of common solutions developed by BMB

4 WP2 - Tasks Task 1: Stakeholder definition and stratification
Leader: VUMC Definition of stakeholder groups including bench researchers, software developers and biomedical researcher in academia and industry. Consultation with BMS Ris, other e-infrastructures, industrial stakeholders through EMTRAIN and Advisory Board to enable definition Identification of appropriate strategies to engage and train each group

5 WP2 - Tasks Task 2: Creation of Inreach and Outreach Plans
Leader: VUMC Participants: UDUS, EBI Develop plan to involve identified stakeholders :- Year 1 and 2 – Inreach to BMB partners. Awareness raising with stakeholders about BMB and its objectives Year 3 and 4 – Systematic informing of stakeholders about solutions implemented within BMB, including promotion of BMB standards, best practice and tools at scientific conferences and publication of BMB achievements in Scientific, Medical and Technical press

6 WP2 - Tasks Task 3: Development of BMB Brand and Supporting Materials
Leader: VUMC Participants: EBI Develop BMB logo, website, newsletter, powerpoint and poster templates, key messages, press releases and a project bulletin

8 Example of Website Requirements - ECRIN
What specific information do you need to access from the website? Project specific event calendar showing milestones, deliverables, meetings, dates of teleconferences Documents, news, announcements, discussions. Collaborative space ie.blog and whiteboard Wiki and documents library with version control Online conference tool – web conferences from website Descriptive information package for external stakeholders, project description, vision

9 Example of Website Requirements - ECRIN
Which of this information will you require immediate web access to, in order to progress your project? Documents, news, announcements, discussions, blog, whiteboard Wiki Implementation of guidelines for collaboration, ie. - restrict discussion, use a wiki or forum - place documents in library rather than exchanging via - good mailing list discipline – one list per working task

10 Example of Website Requirements - ECRIN
Within your particular research infrastructure, who are your internal stakeholders? Study management (coordination and project management) Researchers Financial Administration Monitoring (clinical trials) Data Management IT Administration Quality Management Statistician

11 Example of Website Requirements - ECRIN
Within your particular research infrastructure, who are your external stakeholders? Study sites Sponsor Investigator Ethics Committee

12 Example of Website Requirements - ECRIN
Within your particular research infrastructure, who are your users? ECRIN members ECRIN data centre data managers Associated clinical researchers Clinical trial investigators

13 Example of Website Requirements - ECRIN
Please provide a 100 word summary of what your WP will do, how it will contribute to the overall goals of BMB, written so that a non specialist could understand it “WP 5 will provide the basis for the operation of the envisioned data bridges by addressing ethical, legal and regulatory issues associated with the exchange of research data and bio specimens………………………….”

14 Work Package 12 - Training

15 WP12 - Objectives Deliver short courses to project participants on areas of bioinformatics outside their current experience in order to ensure crosslinks between data resources within BMS RIs Produce documentation on the resources developed, initially for use within project, but ultimately for use by the end-users of the services developed by BioMedBridges Deliver short training courses enabling end-users of the BMS RIs to benefit from the technical results of the project

16 WP12 - Tasks Task 1: Workshops for project participants and documentation of resources developed Leader: EMBL-EBI Deliver four workshops to participants during first three years of project Topics of workshops to be defined by Work Package personnel, but likely to include: - Interoperability standards development - Secure data access - Development of web services - Database development and interoperability Workshops will be short (2-3 days) and comprise around 25 participants (5 trainers and 20 delegates)

17 WP12 - Tasks Task 1: Workshops for project participants and documentation of resources developed (cont.) Leader: EMBL-EBI Produce documentation based on each workshop to support delegates in implementing what they have learned On last day of workshop, delegates will define a set of FAQs, and will work with trainers to develop a set of answers Documentation will be kept up to date by members of personnel from Work Packages

18 WP12 - Tasks Task 2: Training for end-users of BMS RIs
Leader: EMBL-EBI In year 4, deliver two training courses to end-users on the integrated services developed within project Courses will comprise lectures, demos, discussions and computer-based tutorials One course to focus on fundamental research and one on translational and clinical research To be delivered by personnel from the use cases Additionally, by end of year 3, provide relevant support the training components of the individual BMS RIs

19 WP12 - Deliverables No. Title Month due Lead D12.01
Documentation from Workshops 1 and 2 24 EMBL-EBI D12.02 Documentation from Workshops 3 and 4 42 D12.03 User training plan, including workshops at conferences 36 D12.04 Report of user training performed in months 36-48 48
