SIT-28 Meeting Hampton, Virginia, USA March 2013 Background of Inventory Capacity building activities are being carried out across the globe by various organizations Lack of coordination leads to less than efficient use of limited resources Many organizations are simply not aware of many of the capacity building activities focusing on the use of space- derived data Example: Developing a list of countries to receive SRTM data List was made based on UNDP HDI, partnerships, and existing relationships As mentioned in the Bangalore Plenary, this data could help with National Demonstrator projects for GFOI Could have prioritized countries based on existing CEOS projects if there was an easy way to search for that information

Once completed, the project will serve as a comprehensive resource of ongoing capacity-building efforts, helping those actors involved better coordinate their existing activities and possibly inform future planning.
