Classroom Community Our classroom rules help us get along with each other: Be respectful and responsible. Be organized and follow directions. Be on time. Be prepared.

Reading Always have a book in your backpack to read in the event you finish work early.

Website Navigation Altadena Website Altadena Classrooms Team Welcome Supply List Classwork/Homework Parents ParentVue: Grades Student Resources Educational Resources Educational Resources

Homework Your child can expect 45 – 60 minutes of homework every day. Serves as practice for skills learned in class. Should be completed by student It is okay to help, but working through the tough problems is an important skill to be learned.

Late Work Students are expected to complete all class and homework on time. In the event that the work is late, the student will not receive full credit, but is still expected to complete the work. The purpose of classwork and homework is to practice the concepts learned in class.

Attendance and Assignments All homework must be made up when absent The student has an equal amount of days as the days he/she was absent to make up the work It is the student’s responsibility to determine missed assignments and copy missed notes upon return to class. All assignments are on the board or online for the week, and are recorded in their agenda each Monday. Students are expected to keep their agendas current the teachers in advance if your student is going to be absent so we may provide work

Purpose of Academic Lab Enrichment of core curriculum three days a week Graded Music enrichment one day a week(chorus, band, orchestra) Students not in music have a day for study hall Students are rotated every quarter

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) PBIS provides staff and students with a unified set of rules Rules are posted, clearly defined, and taught to the students Staff members distribute tickets to students they observe making positive choices, showing respect, integrity, determination, and/or excellence(P.R.I.D.E) Students may submit their tickets for random quarterly drawings. Winning students are recognized in a variety of ways. PBIS is a district-wide initiative

Altadena Behavior Expectations If your child’s behavior is interfering with teaching or the learning of others, then the following procedure will be followed. Three Strikes Your Out! Redirect Warning ISI (In School Intervention) Severe behaviors such as verbal or physical aggression result in a conduct referral to an administrator.

Cheating Student integrity is a mark of good character; honesty and responsibility are expected. In the event of cheating on homework or practice work, parents are contacted and the student receives a zero. In the event of cheating on tests or plagiarizing work, the student(s) will be referred to administration and receive a zero.

State law requires that ALL students attend school Altadena has a very stringent attendance policy. Students must be on campus by 8:25 a.m. Frequent tardiness may result in detentions and conduct referrals. Be On Time

GUM Altadena is a NO GUM campus. Students must dispose of gum in waste cans when entering the campus, not the building. Lunch detention is issued to students with gum. If a student repeatedly offends this rule, he/she will receive additional consequences.

Bus Routes : Please know your child’s bus route before school begins on Monday. Laptops available if you need to check your child’s bus schedule.
