ELECTRICITY BILL AND METER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FINAL YEAR PROJECT ON EBMMS ELECTRICITY BILL AND METER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

CURRENT BILLING SYSTEM CURRENT BILLING AND METER SYSTEM HAVE FOLLOWING FEATURES THE METER IS A MECHANICAL DEVICES WHICH CONSIST OF GEARS AND CIRCULAR SCALE. GEARS ROTATES ACCORDING TO POWER CONSUMED AND THE SCALE SHOWS THE CORROSPONDING READINGS. THE BILLING SYSTEM IS MANUAL. BILLS ARE GENERATED DOOR TO DOOR AND AT THE END OF THE DAY ALL DATAS ARE ENTERD INTO THE DATABASE MANUALLY (IN SMALL VILLAGES) OR VIA PORTABLE PRINTING MACHINES (IN CITIES AND TOWNS). PROBLEMS FOUNDED IN CURRENT SYSTEM THE SECOND FEATURE IS ALSO CONSIDERD AS A PROBLEM. IF SOMEONE TRIES TO CHEAT WITH METER, PGVCL WOULDN’T COME TO KNOW IT UNTILL THEY GO AND CHECK INDIVIDUAL METERS OF THE PERTICULAR AREA WHERE THEY ARE THINKING TO HAVE BEEN CHEATED. FOR TERMINATING OR RESTARTING A CONNECTION, PGVCL WILL HAVE TO RUN TO THAT PLACE.

PROJECT OVERVIEW ORIGIN OF THE IDEA FEATURES AFTER FINDING PROBLES IN THE CURRENT SYSTEM, WE TRIED TO FIND IT’S SOLUTION AND THAT WAS THE ORIGIN OF OUR PROJECT. WE DESIDED TO CREATE A N/W WHICH HAS ALL ELECTRICITY METERS AS A PEER WHICH ARE FURTHER CENTRALISED TO THE COMPUTER SYSTEM OF THE PGVCL OFFICE. IT CAN BE WIRED OR WIRELESS ACCORDING TO NEED. FEATURES READINGS WILL BE SENT DIRECTLY TO THE SYSTEM SO NO NEED TO GENERATE BILLS DOOR TO DOOR AND NO NEED TO ENTER THE DATA IN THE DATABASE MANUALLY. THE CHEATS CAN BE EASILY IDENTIFIED. THE ADDRESS AND THE METER NUMBER WILL BE DISPLAYED ON THE COMPUTER OF THE PGVCL OFFICE WHENEVER ANYONE TRY TO CHEAT. THE WARNING MESSEGE WILL BE DISPLAYED ON THE SCREEN OF THE METER WHEN SOMEONE TRY TO CHEAT. THE CONNECTIONS CAN BE TERMINATED OR RESTARTED FROM THE PGVCL OFFICE BY JUST ONE CLICK.

TECHNOLOGY WE WILL USE CONNECTION : PLCC + WIRELESS PLCC : POWER LINE CARRIER COMMUNICATION IT IS THE TECHNOLOGY OF COMMUNICATING VIA POWERLINE CABLES PLATFORM : ADVANCE .NET ADVANCE .NET TECHNOLOGY WILL BE THE PLATFORM FOR SYSTEM DESIGNING DATABASE : MICROSOFT SQL SERVER MICROSOFT SQL SERVER WILL BE USED FOR DATABASE.

About Network An important part of the project is a network that how will meter’s data will be sent to the central server? To achieve this the network can be designed. The communication can be done using existing power lines using PLCC technology The network architecture can be ADHOC network of the transformer towers. The network consist of two communication channels Power Lines(from meter to transformer tower) Wireless connection (TT to TT) finally to centralized server

Meter + Modem Modem Meter Connection

FUTURE OF THE TECHNOLOGY We can add functionalities like meters tracking using GPS technology. Graphical view of a city with network and one can easily fine address of a user, and can find the location of the meter and can easily collect the readings or can generate bills or can monitor the network. in the GPS map of the network, one just hover a mouse on the meter points and the reading shows like a tool tip and utility company may have a continuous monitoring on the city. The network can be used for home automation, television, telephone, internet and many things. We have thought of a new kind of electricity – mail, in this system the mails can be sent inside the city anywhere without use of internet. You just need a computer and electricity at your home, you can compose mail and then send it to the address, and the network will send it to the destination address’ computer or destination home e-box in which mail can be stored in absence of user to be online. And when the person checks the box, he can easily read it and can reply it. So amazing is this technology. So be prepared for the next generation mailing without internet, we may come with this next time.
