Question 28: Why do you think some people might prefer game consoles to multiplayer online gaming? Answer: The game consoles do not have an extra cost associated with it. The consoles usually give the users more than one controller.

Question 29: What is one example of a multimedia format that relies heavily on text? Answer: Microsoft Office PowerPoint Software

Question 30: What is an example of a multimedia project you have created in one of your classes? Answer: Microsoft Office PowerPoint Presentation.

Question 31: How did you use technology to create your work? Answer: The use of a computer and the access of the internet providing the necessary tools and information. Also using a projector to display the presentation on a smartboard.

Question 32: In what ways are the text, graphics, audio, photo, and video files on a computer similar? Answer: They are similar because they are all considered authoring tools. These tools can be saved as data to be used at other times.

Question 33: How are Net radio and Net video alike? Answer: They both use streaming which places a temporary audio file on your hard drive. The audio stream replenishes the file on the hard drive, continually updating the data as it plays.

Question 34: How are Net radio and Net video different? Answer: Net video goes beyond Net radio in that it delivers pictures as well as sounds.

Question 35: What is a benefit of streaming audio and video? Answer: A benefit is that you don’t have to wait until the entire file is downloaded. It begins as soon as it is downloaded.

Question 36: How might a community service club at a school use multimedia authoring tools? Answer: They might use authoring tools to present information to others about their club in an on-screen environment for everyone to see and hear.

Question 37: What benefits do you think virtual reality offers? Answer: Virtual reality offers the abilities to participants to view and interact with multimedia. Almost like it was for real.

Question 38: Why does creating a virtual world online require the programming language X3D? Answer: X3D allows programmers to describe objects that appear in the virtual world, such as shapes, buildings, landscapes, or characters.

Question 39: Why do you think virtual reality therapy aimed at people who have a fear of flying may be less costly than other therapies? Answer: You do not need to take patients on a real paid airplane flight in order to help them overcome their fears.

Question 40: What happens to connect a local telephone call? Answer: Local telephone companies provide direct wired services to its clients. The connection is made when an analog system sends electrical signals across these wires.

Question 41: How do analog and digital communication systems differ? Answer: In analog communications, sounds start as waves or vibrations in the air. These electrical signals are then converted back into sound waves to the receiver. In digital communications, sounds are converted into binary data at the callers end.

Question 42: What advantages does wireless communication offer over traditional phone lines? Answer: They work faster and more efficiently than copper wires.

Question 43: Why is a modem necessary to enable communication between a computer and telephone lines? Answer: It provides the modulation and demodulation needed to communicate between systems. Modulation changes the digital signal of the computer to the analog sounds used by telephones. Demodulation the reverses the action to send the information back to the user.

Question 44: What types of documents might it be important to transmit using a fax machine? Answer: Fax machines can send hand-written documents, printed text, pictures, blueprints, or anything else on a page. Important documents could include contracts, any legal documentation or invoices and statements for billing.
