TRACECA TRAINING Experience Eng. Cristina AMARAZEANU Head Office of Planning and Strategy Department Bucharest, Romania 23 rd of November 2011

Content 1- Appraisal training 2- Model training 3- Useful or difficult? 4- How can these trainings help TRACECA professionals from the countries in doing their work? 5- Is the e-learning a great opportunity to refresh the learning? 6- A MUST considered as EU support - to continue this training, especially on line 7- Comparison of TRACECA training with other training experiences

1- Appraisal training Tasks – debated during the training How could infrastructure be developed on budget and on time by achieving value for money for the users and society? How can private partners be involved? Analysis of the projects framework Available information in the beginning of project development Services to be delivered through the contract Initial project idea Comparison with the final results Implication of all parties in the project implementation and post results

2- Model training First steps (VISUM instalation, documentation and programme interface) Settings – define the transport systems, modes of transport and demand segments; Elements of the network – nodes, links, turns, zones, connectors; Demand data – matrices, how to create them, how to connect the demand segment with the matrices Assignment procedures – traffic flow, per example, between 2 targets (TRACECA countries) Analysis of model results

The results are flexible. It enables users to work on a variety of applications. You can use it for a planning study that has regional implications as well as to an operational study along an urban roadway where innovative traffic management concepts are evaluated at the roadway and intersection level.

3- Useful or difficult? The result: it was useful, but not difficult. Why? - because the trainers were giving the needed support all the time, showing the open possibilities for infrastructure projects implementation offered by VISUM Where can we use it? – to create links and to justify the final results (traffic bundles between origin and destination in order to handle with the actual needs and future),

A plus for transport planning and for transport engineering… Floating Car Data Mobility Services Quality Assurance Sustainable Mobility Toll Traffic and transportation management Traffic Conditions Traffic Information Services

Where is the use of VISUM? Calculate the distances between 2 points and the traffic flow between them Show planning results in Google Earth Importing Open Street Map Up-to-date maps

Dynamic methods and models Traffic management solutions, which are closely linked to standard transportation planning and modeling systems (PTV Vision with the VISUM and VISSIM modules), are based on specific algorithms for online data management.

5- Is the e-learning a great opportunity to refresh the learning? A plus for yourself and a platform for becoming yourself a trainer for the others… You can give all the technical support for the staff from your company, in the same time with the rehearsing of all you have studied with the certified VISUM trainers.

6. E-learning platform…skip boring lessons and be your own trainer… E-learning platform should continue to help TRACECA countries to develop An accurate future Master Plan

7- Comparison of TRACECA training with other training experiences An useful tool to approach the transport planning, especially, in the best manner. A software dedicated to transport needs A model for future project implementation – basis for economical studies, for traffic modeling, etc Who made the difference? – the trainers, which had given a straight line to the participants, persons

My ideas… To continue the training, to create a group of trainers for each TRACECA country in order to use the data base already realized in a proper way; To improve the data base and to extend its use to other projects, like Master Plan, in the case of Romania; To justify the projects proposed for the Investment Forums, partially, with this platform as an existing and useful tool.

Eng. Cristina Amarazeanu Thank you for your kind attention!
