Job Description  An architect’s job is to design buildings and houses. They plan and design apartments, offices, churches, schools, airport terminals, and other structures. “A client will contact and talk to the architect about what they want done. The architect will then draw up plans for their client. If the client agrees with blueprint or plans then construction will start.(City Spokesperson)”

Educational Needs  According to (careerplanning.com) there are three types of professional degrees available to become an architect. Five year Bachelor of Architecture programs for students entering out of high-school. Two year Master of Architecture programs intended for students with a pre- professional undergraduate degree in architecture. Three or four year Master of Architecture programs for students with degrees in other disciplines.

Schools  Schools that have top graduate programs in the USA for a Master of Architecture degree are Harvard University, Yale, Columbia University, and Washington University. Virginia Tech is a top undergraduate school that offers a Bachelor of Architecture degree.

Salary  (Indeed.com/salary) states that an architect’s salary can range roughly from $40,000-$130,000 in today’s market. They also say that today’s architect’s average national salary is $106,000, the average Virginian architect’s salary is $109,000, and the average salary for a local architect in the Hampton Roads area is $89,000.

Job Outlook  After 2018 architect related jobs will grow faster than many other occupations due to the environment. Locally and nationally these jobs will grow depending on the population.
