Basic DWP Power System Generation Stations 1- Hydroelectric (Owen valley, PPI, PPII, Castaic) 2- Thermal (Harbor, Valley, Scattergood, Haynes) 3- Wind (Pine Tree) 4- Solar (Pine Tree) 5- Nuclear (Palo Verde) 6- Coal-fired (Navajo, intermountain)
Basic DWP Power System Converter Stations 1- Sylmar 2- Adelanto
Basic DWP Power System Transmission Lines Voltages starting at 115 KV to 1000 KV 1- Generation Tie Lines 2- Belt Lines 3- Radial feed Lines 4- Inter-utility Lines
Basic DWP Power System Switching Stations Connecting Generation with Receiving stations 1- LA Basin (Sylmar, Olive, Gramercy, River) 2- Outside (Market place, Victorville) Those to be used to rout electrical power as needed through the Transmission system, Switching Stations have no Power banks.
Basic DWP Power System Receiving Stations Reduce the Transmission voltage to Sub-Transmission (138/230 KV to 34.5 KV) Receiving Station are classified into five areas: 1-Metro (RS-A, RS-P , RS-F ,RS-G ) 2-West LA (RS-D, RS-H, RS-N, RS-K, RS-L) 3-South (RS-B, RS-C, RS-Q) 4-East Valley (RS-E, RS-M, RS-S) 5-West Valley (RS-J, RS-T, RS-U, RS-Renaldi)
Basic DWP Power System Distribution Stations Reduce the Sub-Transmission voltage to Feeders voltages (34.5 KV to 4.8 KV) The city of LA have more than 120 distribution stations all over the great LA area The customers fed by 34.5 KV lines are called IS customer station , the customers fed by 4.8 KV feeders are called CS customer station.
Basic DWP Power System Feeders Feeders are lines and cables leave the distribution station with 4.8 KV to a load center and then splits into primaries . Those primaries are the source of the pole top transformers that convert the 4.8 KV into 120/240 voltages feeding homes and commercial facilities .
