Czech Provincial Reconstruction Team in Logar, Afghanistan Assisting the people of Afghanistan in the reconstruction of their country and the development of a stable and secure environment

CZECH PRT IN NUMBERS -Annual budget: USD 4,5 mil. (source: Czech government) on reconstruction and development; USD on humanitarian aid (quick impact projects) -74 completed projects -20 ongoing projects -10 projects in preparation -57 Quick Impact Projects completed -11civilian experts (management and adminstration, agriculture, water management, engineering, media)

PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION Planning -Always according to the Afghan authorities development plans -The goal is to increase the legitimacy of the GIRoA and provincial authorities with the population -Long term solutions are preferred over the quick impact Projects identification -Local communities, authorities at the provincial and district level; Provincial Council; Provincial Development Council Emphasis -Sustainability. Afghan participation. Transparency.

m e d i á l n í p r o j e k t y RECOMMENDATIONS Quality over Quantity Using of existing tools instead of creating parallel structures Complex solutions to particular sectors is more effective than short term projects implemented outside the strategy There are many stakeholders and donors in the province with considerable amounts of money to be spent in short term. It is recommendable to be more focused on long term and sustainable projects.

Czech PRT‘s Strategy: Sectors and Allocation of Budget Resources Priorities: 1. Support of Local Government -Good Governance -Security 2. Economic Development -Agriculture -Water Management 3. Media Supporting/incidental activities: Education, Public Health, Small Infrastructure Projects
