MURCIA SCIENCE PARK TARGETS Increase the number of innovative and technological based companies. Stimulate the regional companies to get modernized and to incorporate R+D process as well as innovation. Look for entrepreneurs to create companies based on scientific and technological knowledge. Promote and support all the R+D activities in Murcia, as well as the R+D and innovation values for the future of regional growth

MURCIA SCIENCE PARK What we want to do? Existing companies: - To promote the use of R+D as key for the future. - To show them the R+D capabilities in Murcia. New companies: - To find entrepreneurs willing to create new technology based companies (doctors and students) - To attract prescriptors of new projects to invest in the Murcia Science Park Society: - To generate a new clima for innovation, creating a new feeling about R+D and researchers work values.

MURCIA SCIENCE PARK University – Industry Link Roles Public Administration IndustryUniversity M.S.P.F. The first role of the MSP is to improve the link between Industry and University. The leadership of this activity must be done from the Industry. The companies are responsible of the comercial targets and the evaluation of the market as well as the schedules for new products but they can´t do without the knowledge from the university and the work of the researchers.

MURCIA SCIENCE PARK Lessons learned University – Industry Link Roles Different speeds and schedules. Different targets, evaluations and requirements (economic result vs knowledge). Historical different cultures, bad approaches between them. Science offer not clear or available for use outside the R&D organization. Difficulties to share activities in and out the university. Very different performances from the researches with no management over them.

MURCIA SCIENCE PARK Actions to improve the Link To create companies Offer space and external services for the new plants. Relation with financial agents (PE, VC, SC, …). Management support (External Management, Senior Executives). Looking for entrepreneurs Conferences and events (Entrepreneurs Day). Entrepreneurs competition. BIC (Murcia, Cartagena). To Improve R+D Special facilities (Supercomputing Center). Regional Innovation Catalogue. Laboratories, Facilities and R+D subcontracting Catalogue. Society Open days, International examples. Conferences introducing the R&D social value.

MURCIA SCIENCE PARK Our Added Value Two public universities not overlapping themselves. Good population pyramid. Good social and labour relation. Good comunications and strategic situation Europe- Mediterranean-Africa. Joint efforts from the Regional Administration. University and Industry working together around the M.S.P.F. We want to make innovation easier to generate future, staying next to the companies with commitment and compromise in their success.
