 2 small channels, next to each other  Named by: Shipdonk channel (Stinker) Leopold channel (Blinker)  Too small and too undeep for big seaships   They want to broaden the Shipdonk channel (not the leopold channel) What’s the problem?

 Ca. 630 million euros (It’s just a fraction of the price!)  187 homes are threatened with expropriation  Others are facing a weakening of their land  Trees, water birds, agricultural land and open spaces will be lost Facts and Consequences

 Catering and tourism sector will go down  Increased risk of flooding and floods  In dry and warm summers there will be not enough water to fill the wide channel  Conclusion: The unique atmosphere and the historic landscape will be gone. Facts and Consequences
