Delivering industrial strength middleware Brussels, 21 st Jan 2004

Grid Systems, S.A. Founded Feb 2000 by Joan Massó Based in beautiful Mallorca, Worldwide operations. Team of 50 people Commercial Grid middleware platform, solutions and services. InnerGrid & OuterGrid

E3R3S3E3R3S3E3R3S3E3R3S3 We provide a comprehensive Grid platform to Enable, Exploit and Extend grid solutions. Designed from the ground up for production business environments where Robustness, Resilience and Reliability are critical. Focused on business, not technology per se: Security, Solutions and Support

Grid software and service business models Research on business models is critical We have studied it a lot… We participated in an IP that had a very strong proposal on this. Customers (and analysts, see Tabb report) are increasingly aware of the importance of the Grid Services concept Interaction with worldwide utility computing effort (economist: futility) billing, QoS, SLA issues. Flexible pay as you go opposed to traditional licensing Very worried by the noise about open source Importance of added value vs infrastructure

Vague questions Ruling, monitoring and tracing intellectual Property Rights and coexisting software Licensing Models Some models should be completely avoided (GPL) while some others encouraged (BSD) Monitoring and tracing value is hard… some companies will not be willing to play. We have signed many many NDAs to protect and be protected. I can not say more Service grid and e-infrastructure I believe the Telcos have a lot to say here… Grid economies and ecosystems Business alliances, joint ventures, etc…
