Objectives To provide an overview of the latest developments of the initiative; To broaden the dialogue with the Heads of the Regional Secretariats and deepen the development of the initiative; Interactive process: plenary, bilaterals and visits.

Overview of the initiative EU CBRN risk mitigation initiative consists of the following key elements: Methodology Structure (Regional Secretariats, National Focal Points, national teams) Tools (round tables, needs assessment, action plans, projects, visibility)

Short overview (1) Objective (overall) Mitigation and preparedness against risks related to CBRN materials. Scope Risk from: Criminal activities (proliferation, theft, sabotage, illicit trafficking); Accidental (Industrial catastrophes) Natural (pandemics) Delivery mechanism: Regional Centres of Excellence to build institutional capacity to develop coherent strategy for CBRN risk mitigation.

Short overview (2) Aims: Mobilising national, regional and international resources to develop coherent CBRN policies at national and regional levels; Strengthening existing networks and regional cooperation in the field of CBRN risk mitigation; Strengthening regional culture of safety and security.

Short overview (3) A platform for cooperation; A network of experts and collaborating partners; Capacity building mechanism based on inter- agency and regional approach; Participation is on a voluntary basis.
