Sustainable urban mobility is essential for: Guaranteeing citizens a high quality of life Facilitating economic development of cities, thus helping growth and employment Respecting the environment and ensuring sustainable development. The Green Paper explores how the Commission can add value to actions undertaken at local, regional and national level.

Green Paper launches new consultation phase until 15 March Publication of a concrete Action Plan in autumn 2008 » Action Plan will include possible actions at EU, national, regional and local levels and at the level of industry and citizens. » For each proposed initiative, the Action Plan will indicate a time line for implementation and the allocation of responsibilities to the various actors.
