Make ‘Em Laugh October 1 at 6:00 PM A new movie series, “Make ‘Em Laugh: Classic American Comedies”. The series of 10 movies ranges from 1925 to All movies in the series will be shown on the first Thursday of each month, at 6:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall. Each free program will still include refreshments, film notes and a post-screening discussion. Tonight's movie is “The General" (1927) starring Buster Keaton.

eBooks at the Library October 5, 19 This is an open Q&A session for anyone who would like help with our econtent options. Stop by and find out how to use the new app for Axis 360 ebooks, OneClick digital (downloadable e-audio books) and our newest offering HOOPLA! Bring you device, your library card and your questions. No appointment is necessary, just walk in.

Monday Movies at NMPL October 5 at 1:00 PM Come view foreign films and discuss them. This month in this free series we will feature “The Attorney.” The film is in Korean with English subtitles. It is not rated and runs 127 minutes. Light refreshments and a discussion will follow the presentation.

Evening Book Discussion October 5 at 6:30 PM Abby Ripley, a New Milford resident, has graciously agreed to be the facilitator of this group and has come up with a terrific list of books. The book for October is “Binocular Vision” by Edith Perlman and the library will provide the books. The group is limited to 10 people, so please call x201 to sign up.

Brass Mills October 7 at 6:30 PM Meet Emery (Ted) Roth II Local author of “Brass Valley: The Fall of an American Industry”. Ted will present a dynamic selection of his images and share his experiences and discoveries he made during his research. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Spinning & Weaving October 8 at 6:00 PM In celebration of Spinning and Weaving week (October ), Jody Hyman will present a hands-on program called “How Does Spinning Work?” The processes involved in hand spinning yarn will be discussed, and participants will get a chance to try them out. SCORE: Reputation Management October 8 at 8:00 AM Business professionals who are volunteers from SCORE will be conducting a series of workshops. Today's program is “Reputation Management and Social Media”. Nothing is more important than your online reputation. Friday Forum – October 16 at 1:00 PM in Memorial Hall This is our monthly series where we host a mystery book discussion group. This month's book is “The Skull Mantra” by Eliot Pettison. Science Fiction Book Group October 19 at 6:30 PM Marilyn Gunerman, a New Milford resident, has graciously agreed to be the facilitator of this group. All book choices are drawn from award winners. The group meets the third (3 rd ) Monday of the month in the Connecticut Room. The library will provide the books. The group is limited to 10 people, so please call to sign up.

Mobile Accessibility October 19, 21 In this course you will learn how to make your phone and tablet easier to see, hear and use. This class will meet twice during the month from 1:00-3:00 PM. You must attend the Monday session in order to continue with the second half of the class on Wednesday. Registration is required. Please sign up at the library or call x201.

How to Pay for College October 21 at 6:30 PM Paying for college is one of your lifetime’s biggest expenses. To help parents financial advisor Tom Polowy, MS will speak about how the financial aid system works, college funding strategies, and ways to make college more affordable.
