Economic Census in Indonesia Based on the law - Indonesia Republic Act No. 16 of 1997, Statistics section 8, providing a census economic tasks and responsibilities Statistics of Indonesia (BPS). The implementation of the Economic Census every ten years is appropriate in the year ending with the number 6. BPS-Statistics Indonesia has been conducted on the 1986 Economic Census, 1996, and Economic Census is the primary source of statistical database is complete and thorough in various economic sectors, except agriculture sector that the data collected through the Agriculture Census.

- S TATISTICS I NDONESIA Under what circumstances the Economic Census is conducted in your country? Economic Census 2006 (SE06) is a collection of basic data on economic activities in Indonesia. Scope includes the number and characteristics of all business scale in the economic sector (excluding agriculture). Economic Census 2006 records all the companies/businesses that use the building and does not remain fixed in Indonesia. Economic Census (1) (a) Why Economic Census?

Some of the reasons why we should read the results of Economic Census 2006, namely: · To identify the population of economic activities · To update the directory · To provide economic sampling frame/master sampling frame (MSF) · To create and develop a map of economic activities distributions · To find out detail information on the structure of the all economy sectors

- S TATISTICS I NDONESIA Economic Census (3) What are the goal, scope and coverage, method, thresholds used of Economic Census? In general, the 2006 Economic Census aims to collect and present database is complete, detailed, and up to date on the economic activities in all parts of Indonesia that includes the number, characteristics of the business, and events of all scale companies/businesses engaged in various business fields in outside the agricultural business (conducted data collection apart).

- S TATISTICS I NDONESIA Economic Census (4) What are the goal, scope and coverage, method, thresholds used of Economic Census? 1.Obtain detailed data of Micro and Small Business (UMK), and Medium and Large Business (UMB) as the inputs for planning and analysis of micro and macro economic activities in Indonesia; 2.Obtain a benchmark and basis for the various economic surveys and censuses in the future; 3.Obtain basic specific information about various businesses in Indonesia, according to the sector, activity, and the scale such as:

- S TATISTICS I NDONESIA Economic Census (6) What are the goal, scope and coverage, method, thresholds used of Economic Census? Area of the Economic Census covered all Indonesian territory. Business activities covered in the Economic Census are all economic sectors except for Agriculture sector. The industrial classification applied the Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI 2005/ ISIC Rev. 3.1).

- S TATISTICS I NDONESIA Economic Census (7) What are the goal, scope and coverage, method, thresholds used of Economic Census? The implementation of the 2006 Economic Census applied in two stages. The first stage was carried out on May-June 2006 by implementing the business registration (listing) through the approach of business location that covered medium and large scale establishments (UMB), micro and small scale business (UMK), including the economic activities run by household members.

- S TATISTICS I NDONESIA Economic Census (8) What are the goal, scope and coverage, method, thresholds used of Economic Census? The second stage started on May 2007 by applying the census sample. The census (complete enumeration) method was applied for the UMB and the sample (survey) method was implemented for the UMK.

Criteria from related technical division; an establishment is categorized as Medium and Large- scale establishment (UMB) based on:
