Aid in gathering instructional materials 3. Advice of experienced teachers whose own workloads are reduced so that they can work with the new teachers in their own classrooms. 4. Shifting to more experienced teachers those pupils who create problems beyond the ability of the novices to handle effectively. 5. Specialized instruction concerning the characteristics of the community, the neighborhood and the students.

Copyright © Allyn & Bacon 2007 Mentoring as an Induction Strategy for Beginning Teachers Legislation in 16 states calls for a mentoring induction strategy for new teachers. Experienced teachers should act as role models for beginning teachers. Role of mentor should be very clear to building principals, mentor teachers and beginning teachers. Newly selected mentors should have staff development to assist them in their new role.

Copyright © Allyn & Bacon 2007 Mentoring as an Induction Strategy for Beginning Administrators Mentoring for beginning administrators is rare. Ohio mandates that beginning administrators are mentored during the course of their entry year as an administrator. Administrators who have been mentor report positively about their experience and consider the mentoring program an asset in their career.
