STEM Bowl Rules Each team will have an adult proctor. Proctors may not know any student on the team. Please leave your students now & go to a different team’s table! The adult proctor will set the question on the table for teams to solve when time is started.

The questions will be shown on the screen as well as on question/answer sheet. Students will have five minutes to solve each problem. Students must write the first four letters of their school name on the answer sheet. All answers must be written clearly on the answer sheet. Include units when appropriate.

When teams have a final answer, they write it on their answer sheet and hand it to their adult proctor. The adult proctor will circle the minute showing how long it took the team to answer the question. A runner will pick up the answer sheet and bring it to the scoring table.

SCORING Correct answer in first minute = 10 points Correct answer in second minute = 7 points Correct answer in third minute = 5 points Correct answer in fourth minute = 3 points Correct answer in fifth minute = 1 point Incorrect answer = 0 points

There are 10 questions. After the first five questions, there is a break. During the break the alternate can switch places with one member of the team. During competition, students may not talk with anyone other than their own teammates.

While solving problems, students should keep their voices low so that other teams do not pick up any “free answers.” After solving a problem, students should sit quietly until the next question in presented. Points can be taken away from teams not following the STEM Bowl Rules.
