CDM Strategic Framework

Logistics Base Pre-positioning of emergency food in Barbados in the CDERA sub-regional warehouse. Present planning is for 150 MT of High Energy Biscuits. Part of a global Humanitarian Emergency Relief Network with Staging Area in Panama and three sub-hubs in the LAC region with aim to create an integrated system to receive, store and dispatch relief items and equipment.

Technical Assistance and Expertise Training expertise in: Warehouse operations and management  (food storage management and food distribution) Emergency Food Security Assessment incl. GIS and vulnerability analysis Storage system upgrades Procurement

Nutrition in emergencies (joint project UNICEF and WFP) Assist in developing a regional vulnerability assessment methodology Preparedness mission in 8 countries to develop vulnerability and food security profile

Information platform Data from the WFP Information Management Platform, which is accessible to governments and partners can be made available to complement the existing CDERA information platform. Aim to establish a knowledge network of practitioners and institutions for the exchange and sharing of information (lessons learnt and best practices) on food based programs.
